June 20, 200520 yr Just recently I have been experiencing FS9 crashes, usually very early in the game. When it does crash, I receive the following message on a blue screen that windows detected a problem. The first message said: "Bad_Pool_Caller" with the following tech info numbers:0x0000002 (0x0000007, 0x000004, 0x00000000, 0x85401B88)2nd crash had the same "Bad_Pool_Caller" with different numbers: 0x000000C2 (0x00000007, 0x00000CD4, 0x00000000, 0x8541978)3rd crash show: "IRQL_Not_less_or_equal" with tech info numbers as follows: 0x0000000A (0x00000018, 0x000000Z, 0x00000000, 0x804F98E1)System is P4 3.4ATI Radeon 9200 256mbDirectX9SP2SP1.1XP Home EdFSUIPC (registered)I've seen this before but its' always gone away for some reason, or I did something that I am unaware of. Now it's continuous. If anyone understands what is going on here, it would surely be appreciated if you could determine the problem and let me know what I need to do.Thanks
June 20, 200520 yr This is almost certainly a hardware problem. I am moving this to the MSFS hardware forum where you should get a fair number of views on your post. Also, take a look at this link:http://www.tweaksforgeeks.com/IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL.htmlHope it offers a start...-John
June 21, 200520 yr Author Thanks for the link. What is posted there gave me a starting point. I first decided to check the memory and removed one of the chips. Fs9 performed as it should. Replaced the chip with the on I took out and it performed well untill the computer simply shut down ((no blus death warning screen though). So I'm thinking it may be a chip problem. Replaced it again with the other chip and all went well again. Also, since there could be a problem with overheating the CPU, (my power supply sits less than an inch from the CPU P4 3.4 and showed a temperature of 153*) I removed the supply from the case and now the temperature is at 122*.I'll retest the other memory chip again just to make sure that it is bad or not and repost here. Thanks again for the suggestion.
June 21, 200520 yr Author I reinstalled the suspected memory chip with the power supply outside the box and away from the CPU and FS9 function flawlessly. So it seems that overheating of the CPU was the cause. I'll need a larger case so I can mount the power supply away from the CPU.Thanks again for the help.
