Question for AMD 64 FX55

Featured Replies

Can someone who owns an AMD 64 FX55 please share performance information. I'm truly enjoying the new FREEFLOW Florida scenery but find that the performance is not as good in the St. Petersburg area as in other areas. I'm looking for someone who can perform a flight from Clearwater airpark to Whitted and tell me what kind of framerates they are getting. I'm very interested in the St. Pete area. Freeflow has done an outstanding job with this scenery - I'm hooked! On my system flying the SF 260 I get between 15 and 22 FPS with extremely dense settings and weather as advised by ASV. Not good considering I'm getting around 40 in most areas. I will post my spects bellow, but I would like to add that I think that scenery developers are moving in the right direction. When you consider that in FLY TAMPA I only get about 15 FPS and I get about 30 FPS in San Fancisco, same developer, it seems that it's really on how the scenery is developed. Why is this important? Becuase it feels alot better when the framerates are high. The video slows down alot (as if you were in heavy clouds.)I want an owner of an FX 55 system to run a quick test flight, so that I can consider an upgrade. I hope you're getting at least 30 fps. If the person has Fly Tampa airport, please post fps on final. I honestly believe that this Florida scenery is worth the cost of the upgrade. Let me just say thank you to the developers of the best free scenery I've ever received. Thanks to the forum members for their help.JoseCFI, CFIIPentium 4 EE 3.4ATI X800XT PCI Express2 Raptors 10K HDsASV, 747 rfp, 737, 727, Concorde, ERJ, Carenado 182rg, SF 260Mega sceneries, VFR England, Switzerland, Austria, RIO, Caribbean

I have the chip, and it outperforms everything I've seen. But when it comes to flight sim, you can't expect 30 FPS with heavy traffic. Thats what slows down Free Flow Florida, if you have the AI boat traffic. I run 100% traffic, sliders full, 1600x1200, 6x AA, 16x AF, latest omega drivers, but I don't get 30 FPS in the VC of a detailed airplane with tons of traffic around and add-on scenery such as airports or the awesome free flow series. Save your money and don't upgrade until the next generation comes out and things get cheaper. I saved up because I want a system that lasts for 5 years as my last system I built did.
