July 11, 200520 yr If you purchase a MegaScenery product you are offered 10 WinXP performance tweaks for optimizing performance. The third Tweak on their list is to increase your file system cache by going to Settings/Advanced/Memory Usage and change the option from Programs to System Cache.Caution: there is a WARNING if you have an ATI Graphics card, a large NTFS Disk and/or multiple large volume (60-100 gig harddrives possibly in RAID arrays)should ONLY use the Programs option.Since my system didn't meet any of the above criteria I gave it a try.During yesterdays Hurricane I had saved a flight from ATL to PNS using ASV with the 256 resolution clouds and my FS9 settings mostly maxed out including Cloud Coverage Max and was getting fps of 9-12 in the heavy thunderstorm conditions.Today I tried the same flight after switching the memory usage from Programs to System cache and to my surprise with my fps set at 25 I was now getting a constant 24-25 fps! Big difference!!I've read all the horror stories posted at various websites by folks who have had Delayed Write Failures and had to reinstall WinXP but haven't seen any such posts from GeForce users.I have not experienced any problems with this tweak so far but would be interested in opinions from others who have tried it.Dell 8400P4-640 (3.2)1 gig ram80 gig hdGeForce 6800 System: Rysen 7-9700X, MSI Pro X870-P WiFi AM5 Motherboard, Team T-Force Delta 64 GB DDR5 6000 Mhz, Corsair RM1000x80 PLUS Gold, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Super Windforce 12GB OC, NVIDIA Drivers 610.47, 2TB WD Blue SN580 NVMe m.2 SSD for Windows 11 Home, 2TB WD Black SN850X NVMe m2 SSD for MSFS & Steam, LG 27GX700A-B 280 Hz OLED 27" 2560x1440 280Hz Monitor, Thrustmaster Airbus flight stick, Logitech M510 wireless Mouse.
