August 9, 200520 yr I am going to move this to the hardware forum, where I think it will get the attention it deserves. Generally, the problem you describe is a hardware or hardware configuration issue. Most graphics cards include a utility which lets you set brightness, contrast, etc in the different modes the card may encounter. You could have something wrong for your driver's DirectX settings that doesn't appear on the desktop--but I am only guessing. Let us know the driver version and the graphics card you're using.Regards,John
