August 28, 200520 yr It's all to do with FRAMES PER SECONDS !!My current system is P4 3.2Ghz, 2GM RAM, ATI 9800XT dual monitors. What is very frustrating with FS9 is that to be usable ( ie FPS > 20 ) or so I need to turn down many of the setting sliders to the left. What I like to be able to do is to have all the settings to max, flying in and around an add-on complex payware airport scenery, using real weather program and flying a complex jet ( like the PMDG's and the LDS) and STILL have FPS more that 20.Currently, with my system if I do the above, the flight will a more of a slide show at 8 -10 fps.my question is , if I get the fastest hardware available now ( such as AMD Athlon64 FX57, geforce 7800GTX in SLI, with the fastest memory) Would my fps be more that 20 using the scenario mentioned above ?Any body with such a power hardware like I'm thinking about , can get decent FPS with all settings at max , using complex addonn scenery, weather and plane ?I would appreciate you comments & advice.H.Matta
August 28, 200520 yr The next Flight sim 2006. IF they don't add any new functionality..but if they make the FS9 multi threaded to be able to use Multi processors and Network computers... that alone would be great. FS9 is not made to utlize SLI or Multi Processors or even any such thing. As far as your Q. sure..if you get the top of the line system..you will get better FPS..but it has a diminishing marginal benefit.. the improvement will not be substantial. and that goes for expensive video cards too.that has been my experience.
