September 3, 200520 yr when you're calibrating your stick and move the stick in a complete circle like it says to do, the crosshairs are centered but are jumping around a tiny bit. also the numbers beside each axis are different like one is 512 and the other is something else. if i play with it enough i can get them to both read the same number... 512, otherwise they're usually different. is this normal and or which is correct, both numbers different or the same? it's a saitek st290. also, when moving the stick in a circle i usually move the crosshairs so they hit all 4 sides of the square. or am i supposed to move in a circle and NOT touch the square at all? thanks, william
September 3, 200520 yr The reason you move it in a full circle is so that the calibration software knows the full limits of travel so aim to get the crosshairs in each corner, or as near as you can. When the crosshairs move in the centre position it is a sign of 'noise' from the stick, i.e the signal is not clean. This is normal (as long as the movement is not exessive) on sticks that use potentiometers and not optical sensors. When you assign the stick axis in FS just move the null zone slider to the right a bit, this will stop the jitters affecting the aircraft control surfaces.HTH
September 3, 200520 yr hi vulcan, moving the crosshairs to the 4 corners seem to do the trick and they settled down a bit too. just did some test flights and so far they all flew EXTREMELY well! very SMOOTH, i didn't know it could be like that. thanks very much. william
