Second Hard Drive

Featured Replies

THe people who make Mega Scenery recommended that the files be placed on a second hard drive to speed up scenery loading. I got a second HD and the result is amazing. There are no more tiles that come up slowly. All Megascenery areas are in full view as I scan from virtual cockpit. Is there any way this could be applied to the default scenery setup in FS9? That is, is there a way to get the default scenery transferred to a second hard drive to speed up loading? Thanks,Bruce

And I have a question regarding formatting of additional large volumes. I'm about to add a 160 GB disk to my system. How should I format it? As one large volume or several smaller (what size?) volumes? Thanks,Thomas

Unless you have a very specific reason for wanting multiple partitions I would format the entire drive as one partition. Is there anything special you're doing (multiple OS installs, etc) that requires more than one partition?Doug

No,in the past I understood that due to cluster size issues, making smaller partitions was better for performance and disk space. Is this not true anymore? Thanks,Thomas
