September 16, 200520 yr Just wondering if anybody had any possible fixes for a problem I've seen some people reference on here before. I have a Geforce 6600GT (128 MB 8x AGP) with an Asus A7N8X-E motherboard, and I cannot run ANY hardware anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering at all in FS2004. If I do, the following happens after 2-3 minutes of flying:- Any attempt to bring up a pop-up window (like the GPS) will cause an image of the screen from a few minutes before to flicker up for a split-second.- Likewise, if I move the cursor over an instrument or over the taskbar (I run 1280x960x32 windowed) there will be a momentary flash of a several-minute-old screen image. Sometimes it covers the entire screen, sometimes it only redraws down to the vertical position of the mouse cursor.- On three or four occasions I've had the screen go totally nuts, and when it does that typically it will only draw part of the screen at great magnification (say, the instrument cluster taking up the entire screen) with stripes and odd color patterns. The only way I can avoid this happening is to go into the nVidia control panel and turn off (not application-controlled, "off") anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering. Then FS2004 runs great.I have tried this with many different drivers since I bought the card several months ago, up to and including the most recent 78.01 version. Nothing has helped and I'm absolutely at the end of my rope here. Anyone have any ideas?Lewis "Moose" GregoryRichmond, Virginia Lewis "Moose" Gregory Durham, North Carolina
September 17, 200520 yr Two things to check immediately:1: The power connector may not be fully pushed home between the PSU and the graphic card.2: You may have vestiges of old drivers floating round in your system as a result of trying to troubleshoot. Once you have decided which driver you're going to keep (and the 78.01's seem a good choice on the 6600GT, which I also have) you need to run through the FULL uninstall/Driver Cleaner Pro/Reinstall approach. This is much more than just uninstalling the old driver, it can completely clean your system of all traces of previous drivers, leaving you to perform a clean install of the 78.01'sYou can get Driver Cleaner Pro from www.guru3d.com and make sure you read and understand the instructions, as getting it wrong is NOT an option!Allcott
September 18, 200520 yr I'll agree with Allcot, Moose. I have the same card as yours and no troubles with antialiasing. Good luck!-JeremyThe Ozark DogfighterHappy Flying!
September 18, 200520 yr I have had these problems also. The main problem seems to be trying to run the game in windowed mode. The 71.50 drivers are the only ones that don't do the retro instrument thing, but they still do the super magnification thing when I hover over a tool tip on an external window. If you really must run in windowed mode (as I do) try the 71.50 driver.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
September 20, 200520 yr Moose4:I confirm this as well with the 78.01 drivers, although I didn't have it before. I, too, run in Windowed mode. I get all the artifact screens, effectively ruining my 2d mode. However, your post(s) have helped me deal with the issue when it threatens to ruin a long flight. Simply disable the AA/AF in the NVidial control panel and engage Anti-Aliasing from within FS9's own Display dialog. Works like a charm.Still, I'd like to find out why this is happening (and why it didn't before) so I can fix it permanently. Perhaps some non-WHQL certified beta drivers. Anyone?
