September 28, 200520 yr Hi!Edited to correct typos and grammarI'm thinking about the configuration of my next FS PS. So I decided to go with Athlon 3500+ or 3800+, Abit AN8 Ultra (NF4 chipset) and a good X800XL Video card (Sapphire, HIS). A friend, told me that, NVidia chipset with ATI Card might have problems. On the other hand at ABIT web site, ABIT has only ATI based video cards.Q1: SHould I be concerned about NF4 + ATI video ?Q2: In case I choose to go with NVidia , should I go 6600GT (12 pipelines) or 6800GT(16 pipelines) Keeping in mind that FS is much CPU dependent. September 29, 200520 yr Hey Sam....... If it were me,I would stick with NF4 and a 6800 GT.I can't say for sure the ATI will work hand in hand with an Nforce chipset,it should,however...if you want, you can try the ATI card first, and see if it works well. If not,you should be able to return/exchange it for the GT.Stan
September 29, 200520 yr There are 100's of 1000's of people using nforce chipsets with ATi cards, myself included. There are no compatibility problems whatsoever. Why would there be? The nforce chipset is the controller for the CPU and RAM. It has no relation to what card you put in the AGP or PCI/E slot.Hope this helps.
