October 24, 200520 yr Just in case this is of use to anyone:I noticed, trying to solve a sound problem via dxdiag.exe, that under the "Display" tab my "AGP Texture Acceleration" was disabled with no way to enable. I followed the steps in this link: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/m...essage.id=22233 and now my FPS has increased!Maybe worth a check!

Hmmm, that link has a thread with 9 pages of posts with all kinds of various 'steps' given among the 180 or whatever number of posts that are in that thread. I don't have this problem, but still I as well as others might be curious as to just what it is you did to solve your problem.Regards,OneTinSoldier
October 25, 200520 yr The very first post in the link!* Go to Start>Run>type smartgart and press Enter* Reboot* Run DXDiag.exe from the run line and make sure that under the Display tab that AGP Texture Acceleration is enabled and not grayed out. If it is disabled and you are able to press the Enable button, please do so.
October 25, 200520 yr Ok.. cool. Thanks for clearing that up!But I want you to know there is a reason I was having trouble understanding what it is you did. You original post on here is confusing to me, I quote...-------------------------------"I noticed, trying to solve a sound problem via dxdiag.exe, that under the "Display" tab my "AGP Texture Acceleration" was disabled with no way to enable."To me, DISABLED WITH NO WAY TO ENABLE means that the problem you were having was that the button to enable it was greyed out and that you were not able to enable it. In other words, it seems to me that your original post is saying that you were not able to go in there and simply press the button to enable it, becuase.... it was disabled with no way to enable it.-------------------------------I hope you can see how I might have been confused but now I understand. Again, thank you for the reply and clearing it up.Cheers,OneTinSoldier

It is fine but I wonder what this smartgart step is for. You can simply run Dixdiag and see on your display tab whether the acceleration is enabled - in my case it is.Michael J.WinXP-Home SP2,AMD64 3500+,Abit AV8,Radeon X800Pro,36GB Raptor,1GB PC3200,Audigy 2http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/747400.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_beta_member.jpg Michael J.
October 25, 200520 yr "It is fine but I wonder what this smartgart step is for. You can simply run Dixdiag and see on your display tab whether the acceleration is enabled - in my case it is."My thoughts exactly. SmartGart in Windows is a neat function, but DXDiag does the same thing and more. I only called up Smartgart to have something new to look at... checked the status of video card and DirectX through DXDiag. The latter offers far more info about the system's DirectX conditions. And, Adverse Yawn, I recommend reinstalling the chipset drivers. Something was really amiss with your system, and a fresh install wouldn't hurt. Likewise, reinstalling DirectX would be good too.Greg
October 25, 200520 yr Smartgart seems to enable (enbolden from greyed out appearance) the button in Dxdiag allowing you to disable/enable AGP Texture Acceleration at will.
