November 19, 200520 yr Hello,For years I fly with 2 monitors attached to my AGP video card (with success). I observed that I have 2 entries in the FS9 settings window for hardware ; device settings :1/NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -www.TweaksRUs.com XTreme-G.02/NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -www.TweaksRUs.com XTreme-G.1in fact one for each monitor attached to the video card.I decided to improve my HWR config and I added a second video card (a GF FX5200 PCI) with 1 monitor attached. So now I "fly" with 3 monitors with success. I can "undock" FS9 windows to these monitors (mainly I put the 2D cockpit, Radio, GPS, .... to one monitor , FSNav to an other monitor and I use the primary monitor for spot view or VC, flyby....all this with success !My question : I have now 3 monitors BUT I still have only 2 Device names in the Settings-display-Hardware , I was expecting 3 entries .Can someone explain? Thanks in advance Emile EBBR Z590 Aorus Elite, i9-11900K 3.5Ghz Nvidia RTX 5070, 32 GB Mem, SSD 3 Tera , 3 monitors Win11 Pro X64 LM P3D V6.1 Little Nav Map Hifisim Nvidia 591.44
November 19, 200520 yr Author Hello,I had 1 card with 2 monitors and I observed that I have 2 entries in the FS9 settings window for hardware ; device settings :1/NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -www.TweaksRUs.com XTreme-G.02/NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -www.TweaksRUs.com XTreme-G.1in fact one for each monitor attached to the video card and for each of these monitors I can set the resolution and other settings. Now that I add one more card and one more monitor I was expecting to see 3 entries ....Attached a copy of my FS9.cfg Emile EBBR Z590 Aorus Elite, i9-11900K 3.5Ghz Nvidia RTX 5070, 32 GB Mem, SSD 3 Tera , 3 monitors Win11 Pro X64 LM P3D V6.1 Little Nav Map Hifisim Nvidia 591.44
November 19, 200520 yr Wow Emile, where did you get all of these DISPLAY.Device definitions?>[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA Drivers on Win2K/XP.0]Mode=1600x1200x32PanelAsTexture=0TextureAGP=0[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA Drivers on Win2K/XP.1]Mode=1152x864x32PanelAsTexture=0TextureAGP=0[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600.0]Mode=1600x1200x32MipBias=4TextureAGP=0PanelAsTexture=0[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600.1]Mode=1024x768x32TextureAGP=0PanelAsTexture=0MipBias=4[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -www.TweaksRUs.com XTreme-G.0]Mode=1600x1200x32TextureAGP=0PanelAsTexture=0[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -www.TweaksRUs.com XTreme-G.1]Mode=1024x768x32TextureAGP=0PanelAsTexture=0>I'll answer my own question because it has happened to me too. It seems that each time I upgrade my display device drivers, FS9 makes new entries into the config file but it never deletes the old entries. I have experienced some problems because of this. So after I install new drivers, I go into Fs9.cfg and delete the old driver's definitions. Try this, then restart FS9 and see if it writes a new entry for your PCI card driver. R-
November 20, 200520 yr Author Hello RonB49,In fact I change my video drivers often, that must be the reason why I have as many lines in FS9.cfg.I removed all lines from FS9.cfg except the basic ones :[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA Drivers on Win2K/XP.0]Mode=1600x1200x32PanelAsTexture=0TextureAGP=0MipBias=4[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA Drivers on Win2K/XP.1]Mode=1024x768x32PanelAsTexture=0TextureAGP=0MipBias=4Start FS9 , "fly" around, changed (undock) windows from one monitor to an other and so on , so that all windows went on all 3 monitors and back...this works like a charm. When "flying" I controlled the settings and I still have only 2 device names visible (available) so that I cannot change the resolution (and other settings) on the 3rd (third) monitor.Close FS9, check what is in FS9.cfg and I found that 2 new entries have been added to the file :[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -www.TweaksRUs.com XTreme-G.1]Mode=1024x768x32[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4600 -www.TweaksRUs.com XTreme-G.0]Mode=1600x1200x32Strange !Any explanation? Let me try.I believe that you deleted the wrong DISPLAY.Device definitions. You kept what you thought were the, "basic ones." But those are, in fact, definitions left over from old drivers. Your system is now running the drivers from "www.TweaksRUs.com" and when you started FS9, it simply wrote new definitions into the config file. This time delete the "basic ones" and try it again. As far as seeing the third monitor attached to the second adapter, I don't know. I have not used more that two monitors and those were on one adapter. I don't know if FS9 can address more that one display adapter. Perhaps someone else will respond. R-
November 20, 200520 yr Author Hello,I deleted (removed ) all lines with Emile EBBR Z590 Aorus Elite, i9-11900K 3.5Ghz Nvidia RTX 5070, 32 GB Mem, SSD 3 Tera , 3 monitors Win11 Pro X64 LM P3D V6.1 Little Nav Map Hifisim Nvidia 591.44
November 20, 200520 yr I am not aware of any backup copy of the config file.I'm also afraid that i have run out of ideas.Hopefully someone who knows more than I do about multiple monitor setups will step in and offer you more helpful advice. Sorry. R-
