November 28, 200520 yr Hi guys! I've heard that the AMD 4000+ san diego (single core) is performing better than the 4400+/600/800 X2 series... Is that correct??? Thanks,Lucas.
November 28, 200520 yr Hi Lucas, I don't believe this to be the case. The X2 series have twice the cache for a start. :) Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
November 29, 200520 yr Well,it is a matter of how you look on things. Fs9 will not benefit from a dual core cpu because it wasn't written to use two cores. (It's a bit like hyperthreading. Fs9 didn't find improvement there either)However, if you're running multiple applications together with Fs9, multiple cores can divide the load and you can assign the other applications to one core and Fs9 to the other. But the first statement is more or less true. If you run Fs9 through both cores, you're losing out on a single core cpu. When you want to buy a new cpu, defintely go for the dual core. Maybe not today but in te near future you'll sure find some benefits. Fs10 maybe? or would that be too optimistic???Luc 'Glaudrung' BrusselmansBelgium
November 29, 200520 yr What Luc says is correct. But from a different angle the single can overclock and get better MHZ speed than the Dual can. This is because the chances of getting two cores that are able to overclock high are very slim. That is why the single core can out perform the dual in shear power. But if it is in a program that will run two cores then the dual will win. It just depends on what you are planning on using it for.In the long run it is best to get the Dual core or better yet wait for AMD to come out with their new M core which will be out soon as that is the future of Dual Core Technology and you will be good for future applications. ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
November 29, 200520 yr Hi Jeremy, and would you know if this M core will be compatible to the latest mother-boards such as ASUS A8N deluxe and/or premium??? pherhaps it will have a different pin configuration than the 939...Thanks,Lucas.
November 29, 200520 yr The new core will more than likely rely on a new chipset and possibly will be a different socket. Its doubtful that it will work on the current motherboards. Cheers,John TavendaleTextures by Tavers - https://www.facebook.com/texturesbytavers
November 29, 200520 yr No Lucas it will not be a 939 style chip in fact it is a completly new design. It utilizes DDR2 Ram and is a 940 pin config, also I think it is 65nm instead of the 90nm which is the norm. It is supposed to be the new standard. Here is a link to some info on it.I also noticed that it has been pushed back to production starting in April. It is called the Socket M2 http://www.amdboard.com/socket_m2.html ________________________________________________________________________________ Jeremy 9800X3D OC'd -30 +200MHZ | 64GB CL30 RAM | RTX 5080 | Windows 11 23H2| Bravo Throttle | Alpha Yoke | CH Pedals | Logitech Radio Panel | SmoothTrack | AAO
