December 28, 200520 yr Is there anyway to input audio from a tape and burn it to a CD or DVD disk on a computer either useing XPPro or Nero Express provisions? I have some tapes I recorded that I sure would like to duplicate on CD's. I assume this could be done with a conventional CD recorder hooked up to my multi-sterio system, but don't know if it is possible implementing a computer burner. Thanks:RTH
December 28, 200520 yr Hi, There is a unit made by a company called plusdeck.com that fits in a drive slot that can convert to mp3 from a tape cassett. Have had one for about 6 months and seems to fit the bill. Cost about $200.Good Luck TONY

Record your audio to the hardrive (also allows you to edit it, removing hiss/rumble etc.) save as what ever audio format you wish and burn to CD.

December 29, 200520 yr >Thanks for the replies Tony and Paul!>>Paul, is there any particular software you would recommend?>>Thanks again.>RTHThere is tons of Windows recording software, Some free, freeware and payware.I use CoolEdit Pro, as well as Nero WavEditor. You can even extend the Max record time of the Windows sound recorder that came with windows, Just search the MS Knowledge base web site if you need to, but "real" recording software will be much better.Just Google "free sound recording software" and I'm sure you will find what you need in no time.
January 26, 200620 yr Author Hello Tony (If you are still monitoring this post)I ordered the PlusDeck unit as you recommended and have both good news and bad news (The good news far exceeds the bad and has nothing to do with your recommendation or the product). The bad news is that I purchased the unit from Eagle computer - saveateagle.com at a price that was just a little too good. The package was missing the 20 pin cable unique to making the product work. Appeals to Eagle Computer brought only the statement that they would send me an RMA number for return of the product (Which after weeks they have failed to do). Needless to say, Eagle Computer - saveateagle.com is on my blacklist now, and I would highly recommend that all avoid them. The GREAT news is that after an email to them, BTO / PlusDeck very quickly sent me the missing part. They both replied to me on their forum and by email and supplied service that was absolutely excellent. The additional good news is that their product works like a charm. I am in the process of converting some old Audio tapes previously recorded and dying of old age to CD's on an MP3 format. I could not be more pleased at the results. One note of information to anyone else that might be interested in such an activity. I was disappointed to find that my number one car's expensive CD/CD changer/Sterio system did not honor the MP3 format. This was essentially a blessing in disguise. I went to Wally World (Wallmart) and purchased a relatively inexpensive CD player that played MP3 CD's. In addition for less than $5.00 purchased a cassette adapter that connects between the MP3 CD player and any Cassette player to allow playing of the CD'w through the Cassette decks. This allows me to play my converted CD's in my other car which does not have any CD player at all (integral to the vehicle), as well as through my household sterio system. Of course, all of the CD's play on my computer as well, although thanks to PlayDeck the cassettes (or any other cassettes) play through the computer as well.I highly recommend the PlayDeck Cassette deck. (Just don't buy it through Eagle Computer - saveateagle.com)Respectfully:RTHEdit Note:For recommendations by others, such as Audacity, they did all that were recommended. I personally just found that the PlusDeck served my purposes better thank to the MP3 Format and lack of hassle in operation. Thanks to all of you.RTH
