Disk(s) produce stutters in FS9.

Featured Replies

Hi all,I seem to have found the cause for stutters on my still new machine. It's the disks! I have two fast 160Gb SATA Seagate Barracudas running in RAID 0 configuration on an ASUS A8N5X (nForce 4), Athlon 3500+ and Radeon X850XT PE. 1gb Corsair RAM and Win XP Pro, SP2.I still have my old, cluttered FS9 installation on an older 80Gb disk which is full to the point of spilling bytes across the room, but when when I run FS9 from there, I have smooth preformance. No stutters, nothing, while my new installation of FS9 stutters like mad on the new disks. It's almost unflyable, it's that bad.So, what to do now?? I read on the Internet somewhere that there were some problems with the Barracudas and that they might even be too fast!? That seems a bit ridiculous...I've tried everything, defragging, reinstalling, using just one disk, shutting off things like last access date stamp, indexing service and so on and on - to no avail. EDIT: It's not just FS9 that stutters. Il2/Forgotten Battles/Pacific fighters stutters as well and that's OpenGL. I am 99.99% sure it's the disks... Any ideas and advice more than welcome! Thanks in advance. :)Regards,JureP.S.: I am thinking of getting a single SCSI disk...
