Filemon - Missing Files - Where are they?

Featured Replies

After reading many posts about Filemon, I decided to give this utility a go to try and resolve some minor stutters I have been experiencing. On reviewing the filemon log after a typical stuttering flight, it would appear I have a culprit. The NOT FOUND files fall into two main types:1. EFFECTS.FX - from reading other posts, it would appear if a particular fx file cannot be found it, FS9 will look for this file - to no avail. How do I identify the rogue fx file responsible for this?2. Missing *.agn files. Many of these, e.g. 006b2an1.agn. I presume these are autogen texture files (but I could be wromg). If these are missing, where do I get hold of a copy to rectify the problem?I would very much appreciate anyones help on this please.ThanksMalcolm

C,mon guys. I think the issues that Filemon identifies is key to many of the performance issues with with FS9. You only have to view the logs to see the files FS9 cannot find. Viewing FS9 and Filemon in real time and you can see the stutters happening before your eyes when FS9 cannot find a file.Someone must have some experience of using this utility and have some suggestions please?!CheersMalcolm

Malcolm,What i did was to create an effect file to stop the 'file not found' stutter - in my case it was a strobe effect file misnamed 'strobex' - so i simply made a copy of an existing strobe and renamed it 'strobex' - stutter stopped instantly since fs recognized my renamed file.THEN i went searching thru my ai aircraft.cfgs till i found the offending aircraft and corrected the effect filename. Not that it was necessary but what the heck...Autogen though - i dunno, maybe you'll need to reinstall your autogen textures from the appropriate disk?regards,Markhttp://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a319/markrey/lsd2.jpghttp://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a319/mar.../sup_banner.jpgXPHomeSP2/FS9.1/3.2HT/1GIG/X700pro256

Malcolm,Did you ever determine what was causing FS9 to look for EFFECTS.FX? I am having the same problem via Filemon.Crashing to desktop with ntdll.dll error.
