February 6, 200620 yr You appear to be unable "to disable any of the existing (default)scenery libraries, FS2004 informs me that the scenery library is required and cannot be turned off."and yet you can: "change the priorities for things like Propeller Objects and Vehicle Libraries - these changes are then successfully saved to the scenery.cfg file"This isn't making any sense and clearly needs some more thought.Have you tried temporarily disabling the Scenery.cfg file in the FS9 root folder and rebuilding it from scratch (I am assuming FS9 will allow this - I haven't tried it myself)? Just try one or two additions to see whether it's at all possible.Mike
February 6, 200620 yr I'm happy to report that it appears as if I was able to solve the problem on my own. While FS2004 won't let me create additional libraries from within the "Addon Scenery" directory, it *will* allow you to define them elsewhere (for instance, on my partitioned drive) - and have them properly recognized.I want to thank you and everyone else who made a contribution to help me with my problem. Hopefully, anyone else suffering a similar problem will be able to follow the thread and come up with a workable solution.
February 7, 200620 yr Hi,Glad to hear you are making some progress. However, your apparent solution does not explain why FS9 still won't allow you to add additional scenery areas placed within your Addon Scenery folder.Earlier you stated:"if an attempt is made to disable any of the existing (default)scenery libraries, FS2004 informs me that the scenery library is required and cannot be turned off.".....that's normal behaviour. I've just checked. What I was referring to was whether or not you could add/enable/disable/prioritize other scenery areas (not the FS9 defaults). We have been talking about the same thing, haven't we? You have been referring to difficulties adding/creating libraries whereas I'm referring to scenery areas.Mike
February 7, 200620 yr >You have been referring to difficulties adding/creating >libraries whereas I'm referring to scenery areas.>>Mike>I got confused with the terminology - I did, in fact, mean scenery areas, and not the library (which is all of them together). As it turns out, provided I don't try and create another area from within the "Addon Scenery" directory, I can sort and prioritize them just fine. While creating the areas from within the "Addon Scenery" directory may not be a perfect solution, it would appear that I have a workable solution (I wouldn't be the first guy to put his sceneries somewhere other than on his C: drive). Thanks again for your help!
