February 10, 200620 yr I have an ATI X850Pro card and recently have found that it might be possible to unlock it to run on all 16 pipelines as would the X850XT, I was wondering if this could have any positive outcome for FS9? Would getting into BIOS flashing and enabling these 4 extra pipelines give me any noticeable FPS/smoothness/performance gain as far as the FS9 is concern?ThanksMy sys at glanceP4 3.0GHz HT with 2MB L2 Catch2GB RAM120GB SATA HDWindowsXP Pro
February 11, 200620 yr Hey there,I have almost identical specs as you except for the ram. I did unlock the pipes and am able to run at the same temps as before even with running the xtpe speeds. Needless to say it way outperforms what I actually bought and I am very happy with the card. Also using ATI Tool will help you get the most out of the card and to watch your temps. Also handy to use this to see what performance you gain from unlocking by doing a before and after. I was leary at first but it worked for me and now I have a relatively cheap card that performs like and expensive one. I run AS6 and ultimate terrain Canada/Alaska as well as Ultimate traffic and hosts of good freeware and with all sliders to the max I can average around 20fps unless at a really busy airport. I hope this helps a little.Tony
February 11, 200620 yr I did the trick to a X800 Pro VIVO and it began it's new life as an XT PE. But you must have a VIVO card. The non VIVO cards have the extra 4 pipelines laser cut, so simply flashing the BIOS will do no good.Info here.Good luck,Greg
February 11, 200620 yr Thank you for responses I believe I do have VIVO card, I am not home right now so I could not look, but I think it is identifiable by the little yellow CD-plag.I got my wife to check it and she said it's there, but not sure cause at first she didn't know where video card is in a computer :-lol , but the box says VIVO and she wrote me product number from the box google search indicated it is VIVO,,, well I will see when I get home.Product Numer is 100-435712 from the boxAndy
