February 27, 200620 yr Hello,I have read many post about the shimmers that people are having with ATI radeon cards.I also get these and have tried alot of tweaking. Including reducing the mip mapping slidder in FS-9. I have the latest ATI 6.2 drivers and catylist control panel installed. My system:AMD Athlon 2600 XP Socket AMSI K7N2 Delta motherboard with a Nvidia Nforce 2 chipset.1gb of DDR RamATI Radeon 9800 XT 256 mb.Video cardWindows XP Service pack 2.Does anybody have any other suggestions on what I can do to reduce these shimmers that apear on buildings?
February 27, 200620 yr >Hello,>I have read many post about the shimmers that people are>having with ATI radeon cards.I don't think they are restricted to ATI cards. There were quite a few posts confirming that Nvidia cards suffer from this as well. I also don't think there is any cure apart from the mip-map slider you mentioned.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/pmdg_744F.jpghttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg Michael J.
February 27, 200620 yr You'll need to change over to the Omega drivers (that include ATI Tray Tools). Be sure to use Drivercleaner Pro to thoroughly remove all previous driver versions before installing the Omega's. Then follow the guide in this thread: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchHopefully you'll see a difference,Greg
February 28, 200620 yr Well,I tried the Omega drivers, it did cut down on the shimmers but then I had black streaks running through the screen and the cockpit was real blurry.I opted to return to the original ati ctylist 6.2 they seem to work better all in all, guess I'll just stick with the shimmers!
February 28, 200620 yr I had black streaks running through the screen and the cockpit was real blurry. That's because you enabled Adaptive AA. All the instructions you needed were in the other Avsim thread I linked to.Greg
