March 14, 200620 yr I'm running a Dell 9100 (3GHZ), 2 gig ram, ATI X600 video card, and a 24" wide LCD monitor at 19x12 resolution. In FS I get 12-16 fps with a fair amount of stutters.I know not to expect much from my video card at my high resolution, and will upgrade the card when the new FS comes out in the fall. I use "enditall" to terminate background programs. Running 3DMark05 gives a poor score of 1733.When I first got the Dell we had to swap motherboards twice to get it right. I'm wondering is there is a system setup or tuning issue that is pulling down my video performance. When not playing games video performance is fine. The BIOS seems to be set properly. The problem isn't with FS - rather poor general performance when the video system is stressed. Thanks for any tips you can offer!
March 15, 200620 yr As you already suspect, your problems are in part because of the poor video subsystem that's in your Dell. It's fine for everything but games. One thing I can suggest is lowering the resolution. At 1900x1200, that video that you have in there now, can't handle. Drop the res, and that should help a lot. I know that may not look as good on a 24" wide screen, but the tradeoff may be worth it...at least until you get a new card when FSX is out. There may also be other issues with tweaking your mem and so forth, but I'd say the #1 problem is that the video card you have cannot handle 1900x1200 very well.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
