The '24 eclipse went right over me, complete totality. People drove here from hundreds of miles away. The air temperature cooled down a couple of degrees.

@jlund I have my custom camera views (through MSFS) mapped to an old Logitech gamepad which is zip-tied to my yoke center. That way I can easily flip between views either using the gamepad directional control (for look left right forward backward) or its buttons (for zoomed in views of various parts of the cockpit/panel). I use MSFS's command SAVE CUSTOM CAMERA VIEW (to save each view 1 thru 9) and LOAD CUSTOM CAMERA VIEW (for the gamepad). I had Chaseplane for P3D, but so far I have never felt like I needed it in MSFS. (2020 or 2024). I suppose if you want more than nine (9) views then CP would come in handy, or if you don't want to get the Spotty app and want fly-by and so forth. There are a few planes where I feel like I could use 10 or 11 views...but in general I find the nine views enough for me. Watch me change my mind next week.

I had a partial vac pump failure flying a tour around Tennessee. Maybe 6-7 hours on the plane at the time. I had it fixed at KCHA / Lovell. It was a little dicey using the stby static source, I had to finesse it to keep suction in the green depending on my throttle setting. Not sure if that was due to it being only a partial failure and not a complete pump inop like you had. Luckily the leg was short, from Jasper to Chattanooga at low level winding thru the Tennessee River Gorge.

They call it a "Standby Alternator" in the manual. It looks like the Standby Alt is only in the turbonormalized plane, too. Don't know which one you were flying. You know what you say after a belly landing? "That'll buff out"

Good, I cooked my virtual self the other day. It shot up to 120+ degF in just a few minutes. I did think that wasn't quite right. And it would be nice if you could just crack the door(s) to get a bit of airflow as you might do in real life. But right now it's all-or-nothing, if you shut the door (but you can leave the top unlatched, it'll still be "shut" as far as this airplane's current logic is concerned), it will heat up the plane very quickly.

I have to use SHIFT-C or whatever it is. It would be nice to click on the empty space of the open doorway, but hey. Interesting how the Commander has Piper Tomahawk-style doors, with TWO latches, one up top and another down low. Same era of plane I guess. The Commander seems to have a mix of a little Beech, a little Piper, and a little Cessna in it.

That is what makes us all (and all/various places) wonderful in our own unique way. Take "Restroom" for example. Don't you use loo or WC (watercloset)? I remember in Germany they used WC. I saw that and wondered "what the heck is WC?" -- I found out pretty quickly. But anyway, I could care less. (heh)

Let me see if I'm understanding this...so people put on a VR headset, and then fly a drone outside, for real, through the VR headset? They are outside with the drone wearing VR goggles?

That is what I am doing...keeping the throttle lever on cut-off or nearly so....but then as I'm turning the mags over I then push forward. It's not quite like real life but it's a lot better than leaving it on full rich the whole time. I'm not familiar with this real-world procedure (Lycoming fuel-injected) but based on what some of you have said I think this is at least fairly close.

I think it requires custom code as A2A did, but I'm not sure. You may want to check out that thread over at JustFlight.

Some people were discussing this on JustFlight's forum, with Nick in the thread over there. I got the impression that those people in that thread feel it's wrong, but they seem to think ALL Lycomings start the same way. I think it may come down to them/us needing actual input from a real world Commander pilot as you say. I'm sure he did get that input, so I can't imagine it being straight-out "wrong", but you never know. Nick mentioned the difficulty in capturing the exact moment of forward throttle movement given varying hardware....probably some programming-related things beyond my understanding....

Wasn't that spelling of Franklin archaic even during the life of good ol Ben? Thought they were using "Franklin" even before they left England. Franklyn was 1500's.

BSQ/Nick knows about that, so I'm sure a fix will be on the way.

For me it is relaxing to have consequences. Sometimes I do want to fly with no failures, like if I'm learning a plane or I want to focus on an approach or some other aspect of flying. But most of the time, I don't want to fly and reaching my destination is absolutely always 100% assured. Too many decades of sim flying with zero consequences I guess. I'm loving the added realism.

I didn't think you could hot-swap the Flysimware Sierra G3X at all. Maybe I am mis-remembering and should re-visit it again? As I recall the G3X is a separate variant you have to pick from the aircraft selection menu. Anyway, enough about the Sierra. I'm glad the Sting has been updated! Time to do another Sting S4 flight. I used to be somewhat ambivalent to the MSFS2024 features like the walkaround / engine covers, chocks, pitot covers etc. but these days I really do appreciate the walkaround. We do it in real life after all. It makes me feel like I'm really there, just a little more.

JustFlight removed failures from what? I didn't see it in that Reddit post but maybe I missed it.

I plan to run it without FSRealistic, at least at first. If I think it needs something else later, I can always add in FSRealistic.

If I were in your shoes yes I would look for a used card. Try to go for 16 gb vram but if you can't then 12. If I had a spare card I would send it to you.

I had almost forgotten that Commander Premier Aircraft Corporation was based at my home airport from 2005-2011. That was a company formed by the owners to provide parts and service for the Commanders. Pretty cool that we're getting a hi-fi version for a modern sim now.

Disable all addons, and I mean Marketplace add-ons too....except I guess I'd keep the BS Bonanza loaded since it's the plane where you've had this problem. Then try to reproduce. Sometimes people disable Community folder add-ons but forget to disable Marketplace add-ons.
