  1. Hello, I have a MADCATZ FLY 5 Joystick, with 2 throttle levers, and I want to make those 2 levers, control the 4 engines of the pmdg 747. I know I can do it with FSUIPC, but the problem is that the latest version of FSUIPC doesn´t record(if this is the right word) my data very well, because with KLM Virtual's ACARSng, I get very very low landing rates, so I know it´s related with the last version of FSUIPC. (When I got back to the previous version, problem solved!) My question is. Can I purchase the previous version of FSUIPC? Is there any other way to assign the joystick levers to the engines without using FSUIPC? Like the left lever controls engine 1 and 2 and the right one, controls the engines 3 and 4. If yes, how do I do it? Thank you very much for your help. Kind regards, Edgar Freitas
  2. Hi, I have looked in other threads but none of the fixes have worked. All my power management options are off. When I minimize fsx, (e.g. to activate a pro atc x flight) the joystick will not work. Sometimes it is recognized in fsx controls, but doesn't work. But normally, it isn't recognized in fsx controls, nor does it work. I am using Windows 8.1 and the Mad Catz V.1 stick. Any ideas? Thanks Harry Karmel
  3. Hi guys, I'm having a problem with my Saitek cyborg v1 joystick in FSX. When I leave my throttle on idle, FSX shows my throttles at around 25%. At full throttle on the joystick, FSX shows my throttles at 75%. When I click calibrate, FSX's calibration system shows no problems at all with throttle position; 0% on the stick corresponds to 0% on the throttle, and 100% corresponds to 100%. When I use the same stick in XPX or Aerofly FS, the problem doesn't exist. This hasn't happened to me in the 2.5 years I've owned this stick and is a relatively new problem (a few weeks). The problem started when I unplugged my joystick and plugged in another Saitek controller (the pro yoke). The problem actually started with the pro yoke, so I thought it was specific to the yoke. Now I'm flying with my joystick, and the problem still exists. It's really annoying! What can I do? FSX SP2, by the way. Thanks
  4. Hello, I bought a boxed version of your PMDG MD-11 and I have a little problem with it. I'm using Windows 8.1, so I already know that there are problems with disconnecting joysticks. But I was able to fix this bugs with a tool, so now: When I start a flight with the MD-11, after some seconds/minutes I can't control the throttle any more. This problem only appears with the MD-11 and only with the throttle, I'm still able to use the elevator or aileron. I hope for a helpful answer. Regards from Germany
  5. Hi all With the work I have been doing with LINDA to produce version 2.0 offering full compatibility with the Boeing MCP and Airbus FCU, I have discovered some anomalies with the way LINDA responds to Joystick button presses. I am seeking feedback from other users so that I can identified where further improvements can be made. For the joystick functions to work it is necessary to have LINDA running. However, I have found one example that requires that the Joystick Tab must be selected. In my example, on my Saitek throttle quadrant I have reverse thrust set up on one of the lever microswitches as follows: On Press = FSX: THROTTLE DECR:0 On Repeat: FSX: THROTTLE DECR:0 On Release: FSX: THROTTLE CUT:0. I find that if the Joystick Tab is not selected, 2 things happen: first the reverse thrust does not always operate when needed and second after cancellation the throttle is repeatedly jumping from normal to reverse and back again making taxying to the stand difficult. Another example passed to me is that the LOCAL and GLOBAL SHIFT, in some situations, tends to latch on and won't cancel on release. If you have anymore examples, please reply with as much detail as you can. This will assist my analysis. Many thanks.
  6. Having had a gamepad with only vibration effects, I found that fsx doesnt allow you to set the force feedback levels. The driver that came along with the gamepad also didnt support any level setting. This was unplayable as it kept vibrating at max rate all the time. I have created a somconnect addon that creates the vibration effect based on the following : (developed for Airbus A321 , should also do well with Boeing's ) {Not sure fsx looks into these states for ff calculation } 1. Indicated airspeed 2. Engine rpm 3. Acceleration around 3 axes 4. GroundSpeed ( if on ground ) Other factors with vibration 1. Flaps increment decrement ( step wise ) 2. Spoiler toggle ( fully extended/fully retracted ) 3. Landing gear up/down 4. Stalling 5. Overspeed 6. Landing force Those who only have vibration effects in their gamepads, do try it out.. How to install ? 1. As usual with all addons, download the dll to a path and if on Vista or above and modify dll.xml at C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\ as follows: {For XP, this file is in a different folder, need to figure it out.} Add the following section towards the end of the dll.xml just before </SimBase.Document> <Launch.Addon> <Disabled>False</Disabled> <ManualLoad>True</ManualLoad> <Name>ForceEffects.dll</Name> <Path>D:\Path\ForceEffects.dll</Path> </Launch.Addon> 2. This will ask permission to load the dll when you start fsx. Click 'ok' or 'yes' wherever needed. 3. Also, remember to DISABLE forcefeedback from fsx settings and do not connect more than one ff enabled controllers while trying this out. 7. Hey, I am very apprecitative of Pete Dowson's FSUIPC, as it is the lifesaver for many things in FSX/Prepar3d. I only used it for the Joystick support as it helped me (and so many countless fsx/p3d users) to avoid the dreadful joystick disconnects. While I was in the process of updating my P3D optimization doc (old version is on the Prepar3d section), I decided to take a one more look at the joystick issue, and I may have found a very elegant solution. Windows 8 is super fast in desktop mode (with classic shell as start button) and I do like the SSD optimization by default in it. There are some quirks in it, but for the most part everything works great in desktop mode. Anyway long story short - I have not had a Joystick disconnect in P3D (with Orbx/Rex/Opusfsx/Mytraffic 5.4C) for 3 hours (running in full screen windowed triple screen mode). I also decided to install clean FSX for testing. My FSX is running in windowed mode minimized, while I type this post and it was running in full screen mode for 3 hours with zero joystick disconnect earlier on. I am still testing so please stay tuned for further updates, I do not want to raise hopes and expectations. It is still in testing and if everything is successful on my end, I will post instructions with pictures etc on my website (Estimated time: after stock market closes at 4pm EST). My question to you all is - do you want me to install Windows 8.1 and confirm on it too? I am just suprised that Microsoft released it few days early for MSDN/Technet subscribers. Stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed. Skywolf
  8. Hi I know that you get the plus sign on window to fly with the mouse, but if you have a joy/yoke I can't get this option. Is there a way to fly with the mouse, even with hardware plugged. Thank's
  9. I apologize if there is a tread about it but a quick search didn't help me. I have a CH fighterstick and a pro throttle and I would like to have them perfectly calibrated. Unfortunately the original windows software is quite crappy and doesn't really help me calibrating in dead zones and so on. I would like to use FSUIPC but the problem is that PMDG doesn't want to use FSUIPC calibration, is there an alternate program or software to calibrate joysticks? Regards, Manfred
  10. Hello, My Saitek X45 joystick doesn't work in PMDG 737NGX after reinstalling. However, the joystick works well in default planes. Thank you!
  11. So I keep seeing this product advertised on AVSIM and thought it would add more realism to my FSX experience. I've seen lots of reviews about this item and while the majority of them are positive, there are quite a few that describe problems such as detents in the operation of the aileron and elevator controls as well as buttons that seem to operate by themselves. I have a few questions that I hope my fellow flight sim enthusiasts can answer: 1. I have a number of add-on's that are in regular rotation in my hangar. They are the the ESDG CX 2.0, RealAir Duke and Legacy, Majestic Dash 8, and everything from PMDG. Are there any compatibility issues with these aircraft? 2. How is the build quality of the yoke? 3. I have read that Saitek has fixed the issues with the random button operation and the detente issue? 4. How responsive is Saitek's support? 5. Is there another yoke that would be a better purchase than this item?
  12. Hi,Been away. Was too busy before I left to get properly stuck in to NGX. NOw I have returned, and got hold of Tom Risagers most excellent and informed "readers digest" of the equally excellent, but swede-creaming PMDG docs. I'm starting from scratch but as soon as I enter the cockpit my controllers stop working. I can't pan; change views nor activate any controller assigned action. I have obviously checked that it works in other payware and FSX aircraft, and it's fine. I use EZdok, and interestingly, even if I use EZStudio I cannot change the view; it's as if the input into the sim via the controller or any proxy thereof stops working.I can still change views via the keyboard and operate switches and stuff using the mouse, but I have no control surface control, so to speak. Is this the "freeze" that people speak of? Is there a fix? I have done a search on "joystick stops working" and not come up with much. 14. Hi guys, First of all thank you for taking your time reading this. Ok so i just purchased the Saitek X52 Pro but i am unable to make it work properly on P3D V3. I have look around everywhere and the little information i had found is only for p3d v2.X. I went into saitek website to download the MFD plugin but it says it is for p3d v2. There is nothing in their forum that mentions P3D v3 at all. Im just wondering if you guys have any work around to install it manually using the P3D v2 installation. Let me mention that i try installing it using the v2 one and the gauge does not show on the Sim to control the MFD. Also it would be nice just to have some directions on how to add a gauge manually.
  15. hello guys ive searched goodgle for a week now...anyone had a real fix.. ? windows post started they are ignoring it like its not a problem i tried all usb power fixes nothing works lose my joystick and i cant just do any flight in FSX....so any help please !! : (
  16. Hi Folks, I´m looking for a new HOTAS setup as my old X45 is now officially declared dead. There´s the Warthog and then there´s the Rhino. I mostly play combat sims like DCS Black Shark, DCS A10, War Thunder, IL2, Falcon BMS. Any advice and hands on experience is welcome.
  17. All of a sudden, I cannot select a different joystick in the gui in order to edit button assignments. The button assignment gui defaults to the last joystick in the list. If I select another joystick icon, the gui momentarily flashes up the button assignments for that joystick but then reverts back to the last joystick in the list. This behavior makes it a bit difficult to effectively use Linda. About the only thing that I have changed is to update FSUIPC to the latest version. I've tried all of the usual remedies like a re-install of Linda Etc. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks
  18. When I first plugged in my brand new X52, the joysticks lights would flash. That seemed to have fixed itself. Now the joystick won't work. It lights up and turns on but that's about it. I have calibrated it and nothing works. The throttle works fine though. Please help.
  19. Hi I'm working on an input/output scripting solution for simulators - myself using FSX and Falcon BMS. It's called Sim Script and is going to be a standalone windows application written in Python that offers input/output automation for simulators. Scripts are written in Python - it's very easy to prototype functionality that your favourite simulator might not offer out of the box. Phidget encoder for radio tuning, joystick for gear handle operation, joystick axis partitioned into segments for key presses, etc. , Gear Up! fsx.set("GEAR HANDLE POSITION", "Bool", 0) At the moment one needs to work from source - a distribution package for easy install is coming soon. If you're familiar with Python and want to give this a spin - information is available here https://code.google..../wiki/SimScript Cheers Nils
  20. Since updating to P3D 3.3.5, 777 CTD on final approach and landing whenever A/T or A/P are disabled and inputs are made on the joystick or throttle. 737NGX works correctly and 777 autoland works as well. Manual inputs from takeoff up to final approach are not a problem. All software and drivers are the latest available. System: i7-5930K 4.1GHz, 32 G memory, 2x GTX 980 in single GPU mode on two monitors WIn10 14905 (although this problem does not seem to be Win10 version specific - has occurred on all Win10 versions from release of P3D). Saitek X52Pro with 7.0.53.6 drivers AS16 MyTraffic 6.0A ProATCX on separate computer AppCrash shows the fault modules as being either StackHash_e70a or PMDG_777X.dll. I have the detailed AppCrash dumps and a saved approach that reliably crashes during final. Thanks, Dave P.S. Can someone help me with how to paste text, etc. on AvSim? I cannot make it work. I'm using IE11.1. Must be a setting I'm missing.

  23. Dear flying colleagues, I would like to ask for your help with the following brain-teaser. After many years of flying with FS9 I was pretty convinced that my FS9 knowledge was pretty good. My fault... After repeating problems with OOM, I finally decided to make a complete and really clean re-installation of FS9 last week. So I did it as usual, correctly, step by step and I am sure I did not forget anything important (1. original FS9, 2. fs91upd, FS Global 2008, UT, F1 view, ASE engine, REX textures...). I have also checked my nVidia GeForce GTX780 Ti settings via the nVidia inspector. So I am trying to say, that the process was very standard from my point of view. After final fine-tune I found out, that something is wrong when I am changing views inside 2D cockpit. Trying to change view from forward view to any other direction using joystick hat (Logitech), the screens are somehow shaking for only a one second before they "settle down". What is absolutely unclear for me is the fact that this problem appears only in case of full-screen setup. If I switch to windowed mode, the shaking is gone. I am sorry for writing so long description; however, I have never experienced something like this in the past. Please, would somebody of you be able and willing to recommend any solution? Thanks a lot in advance, Jan.
  24. I have recently bought a Saitek X52. The variety of controls is amazing. One of the control wheels, what I call the E control wheel, is set to Elevator Trim. It makes it easier to set trim for takeoff, but when I set the autopilot and altitude hold, the plane continues to pitch up. I check on the elevator trim and it is stuck at 5 degrees. Anyone know how to fix this?
  25. Hello everybody, a while ago (7 months+ i think) I purchased Windows 8 but quickly switched back to windows 7 because of all the issues with joysticks for FSX and so on. Now, since it's been a while and I switched to XPX and P3D V2 is coming "soon" i'm thinking of switching back. I did really like it unlike most people. I'm just curious on whether I will still have joystick issues or anything else. Thanks! P.S I have been hearing quite a lot about Win8 8.1. If i re install Win8 should I update to it?
