March 26, 200620 yr I decided to try the full blown ATI Catalyst Center - I never had much luck installing one. I tried to install the latest 6.3 version that is compatible with both .NET 1.1 and 2.0 (I have the latter). Everything went fine but after I rebooted I got this big screen from ATI CCC telling me I have no permission to change any of the CC setting (even screen resolution!) and I should contact my administrator. Ok, I am the administrator. What now? Searched through the ATI knowledge base and found nothing. Anyone have a clue?Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/for...argo_hauler.gifhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg Michael J.
March 27, 200620 yr They've had problems with recent versions of CCC requiring both .NET 1.1 and 2.0. Also, you need to make certain all the Window services .NET requires are running (I haven't a clue just exactly how many services are required... I do know that it's too many).Greg.
March 27, 200620 yr Michael,I experienced exactly this problem after restoring my system from a backup. I was able to find a knowledge base article on the ATI site that provided instructions on how to remedy the problem. https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894There is not a direct link to the article but you can navigate to it using the "Solve a Problem" link on the left hand side of the page. The steps listed are:737-21278: Catalyst Control Center: You do not have permission to change Catalyst Control Center settings messageThe following have been identified as possible workarounds to this issue: Enable the Windows Event Log service Click Start > click Run > enter "services.msc" > Click OK Right-click "Event Log" > select properties Set startup type to "Automatic" > click apply and restart the systemEnsure the User account is set to "Administrator" Open the Windows Control Panel Open User Accounts > select your user account > select properties Change the profile to "Administrator"Rebuild the Windows WMI Repository Click Start > click Run > enter "cmd" > Click OK Type "net stop winmgmt" and press enter Using Windows Explorer, browse to %systemroot%system32wbem directory and delete the Repository directory. By default, the repository folder is located in the C:Windowssystem32wbem directory. In the Command Prompt window type "net start winmgmt" and press enter Type "exit" in the Command Prompt window and press enter.ATI Customer Care is investigating this issue. Any updates will be published when they become available. In my case the third step "Rebuild the Windows WMI Repository" is what fixed the problem.Good Luck,Jeff W

March 27, 200620 yr Author >clue just exactly how many services are required... I do know>that it's too many).>It all sounds strange to me. I may stick with Omega drivers that work just great for me.Michael J.http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/for...argo_hauler.gifhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg Michael J.
March 27, 200620 yr Can't go wrong with the Omega's. I've been using the DHzer0point drivers lately and have been very happy with them. Great IQ and performance. The latest (based on the 6.3's) are packaged with only CCC, but the drivers can be installed without CCC. I use them with ATI Tray Tools and all is well. Very nice drivers.Greg
March 29, 200620 yr Hello Everyone,Just wanted to share my experience about this problem of ATI CCC. I had too some disappointment before but finally it has been solve. I had tried many experiments with several drivers and different version. The last thing I did was to install the original display driver of my cousins video card ATI X700 512MB then remove the CCC that was included during the installation and re-install the latest CCC version and to our luck we now have (locked 30 fps)all slider to FULL and land/Take off BOSTON V.2 with a fantastic result except PANC which I have to drop it to 27fps.P4 3.4GHZ Intel 945 i-DNA Extreme Edition; 2GB RAM DDR2; ATI X700 512MB; 19"Samsung LCD; Saitek X52 Joystick; DirectX new version.Same thing I did with my own although I have ATI X1300 512MBKeep experimenting till you succeed. Oops try to modify FS9 cfg. Target_load (fps) = 19 Max_target ( fps) = "between 22-30" you can use the slider to change Texture-Bandwith = 250 Terrain_max_level = 700regards,
