June 13, 200619 yr Just about to assemble a system that has been purchased over time.....these are the specsP4 630 3GhzSeagate 80Gig HDDABIT NI8 SLI MoboMSI NX7600 256mb VC2GB DDR2 5400 Dual ChannelSliders maxed out...yes/no?? Any guesses on framerates? I know the HDD is on the "smallish" side, but that is easily resolved and FS will be the only gaming program on the system.
June 13, 200619 yr Hi,Nope. The processor will be the bottleneck depending on the amount of AI Traffic you use.Are you sure that MB will accept that processor?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
June 14, 200619 yr Yes, the mobo will accept the processor. Went to the mobo website and confirmed. What if any suggestion would you make regarding sliders? Would using less AI be the only modification you'd make? If so, how much less? Help!!!
June 14, 200619 yr Hi,All this depends on the amount of AI Traffic, the models you have, other scenery and add ons, the plane you fly, and the weather conditions. Best to start with sliders in the middle and work at it.Also, smoothness is more important then framerates!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
June 15, 200619 yr Thanks a bunch. My RAM and the HDD are to arrive from Newegg tomorrow. I'm hoping to have it up and running by tomorrow evening and I'll give it a try and let you know. One other question....I will certainly start with the sliders in the middle, but are there more specific adjustments I can make.....assuming all sliders in the middle. I would also agree that smoothness is more important than framrates. Thanks for the help.
June 15, 200619 yr Another question you should weigh is how important is visual appearance vs. smoothness. I say this because I have found that turning down "Global Texture Size" from "massive" to "medium" made my sim smoother.Rhett Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
