Any Known Issues With Soundblaster Audigy Cards?

Featured Replies

Well folks, FS9 still confounds me, after 2 years of trying to keep CTDs and "out of memory" errors.I've tried just about everything to solve the problems. So maybe it's the sound card. It's the only remnent from the last PC (where the problems alsooccurred).I'm using a Sound Blaster Audigy 9000. The driver is e10kx2k.sys.Version 5.12.0001.0129. dated 7-13-2001.Now I'm assuming this driver is out of date. And I'm gonna checkSound Blaster's site for a later driver. But the larger question remains. Anybody have an issue with thissound card??Any help would be most appreciated. I'm just about finished withthis sim. I had a great experience with FS2K2. But FS9, while verypretty, has been a continual nightmare. And I love this game!Rick (MKE) HOT. Like everywhere else. Never take for granted yourlocal power plant.

KX Project Driver cards are an alternative, but the problem will be with the driver, not the card. Just updating the sound card driver should do it. Check for later updates than 2001!http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php?skip=1Allcott

Come to think of it, my Audigy2 is the only thing I have not had ZERO problems with out of my entire computer.

>Come to think of it, my Audigy2 is the only thing I have not>had ZERO problems with out of my entire computer.Ditto on the series having had the SBA2ZS for a long time... and now running the SBA4 for a long time.. no problems on my end ever.

The latest driver (on Creative's site) is from this year (2006) and that's what I would install if I were you. It's 35 megs (!!) so I'm sure it's bloatware, but what can a fella do?Incidentally, tonight I tranferred my old year 2001 SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum from my old system to my present rig. I was using the onboard sound (AC97) but I'm going to try running the reliable ol' SB Audigy card and see what happens. The onboard sound is a cpu hog...Rhett
