Precision Flight Yoke, pedals, throttle- Any good?

Featured Replies

I was wondering who uses the Precision Flight Controls Cirrus Yoke, Throttle Quadrandt Console and Cirrus Rudder Pedals?(see attached pics)I was thinking about purchasing these, but am a little skeptical. I currently use CH flight yoke and rudder pedals.I

Wow. I would have thought somone out there has purchased and used these. Maybe I better think twice before I go running to get this "what I though was" a cool setup. Is there any flight yoke, other than CH, that anyone is using?

Probably the reason you didn't get a reply is that these are expensive devices that have been discussed at length on many occasions in the past. Put Precision Flight Controls into the search box, grab a coffee and read everything you want to know! They are professional quality devices, but with a few quirks.Allcott

Thanks for the help. Looing into it now. I miss seeing the little things sometimes :)

I posted this on the Home Cockpit site the other day regarding yokes, rudders etc. in answer to another post about beefing up the CH yoke to make the springs tighter for a more realistic feel:">>Great Pic's....and good job. It's unbelievable that CH>>Products Inc. or whatever they are just can't produce a>>product that is halfway realistic. The market for a better>>yoke & rudder system is here but nobody at CH Products is>>LISTENING...."Reply from Tuomas: "There's Precision Flight Controls (www.flypfc.com) that>produces pretty decent yokes.>>The problem is, most people then again scream at the $500+>pricetag.>>Plastic is cheap to make, decent metal stuff costs more to>manufacture.>>//Tuomas">Tuomas,My reply back:"Yeah, I know about PFC and their yokes. I bought a 'Cirrus' yoke from them and immediately returned it because it did not come close to what the real hydraulics on a 737NG feel like when they are actuated. Too bad.....They have a column yoke but all of the things I want have serial ports and I doubt that the new computers will support these type of ports in the future. I frankly can't understand why PFC hasn't come out with the USB hardware and update their MCP. Their throttle quad for the 2 engine jet looks terrific, however, I hate to shell out $3995.00 for the Jetliner flight controls, $695.00 for the Advanced twin jet throttle's, $795.00 for the PFC jetliner Yoke and $595.00 for the rudders if they are serial port supported...They need to update their systems if they are charging this kind of money. I understand that the A/P on the MCP does not light up and this is the only drawback outside of it not looking like a real MCP for the price...I hope that "Engravity" gets their act together because there is a real need in this industry for HARDWARE. The current stuff is not up to snuff......Engravity is working on a yoke/throttle for the twin jet engine aircraft along with PMDG for the interface software etc."Regards, jack

Thanks for the thoughts. That was, and still is a concern of mine. I called PFC, and they told me that the yoke and pedals have the usb interface, but the throttle quadrant is serial. They also said that in order to take advantage of extra features of the quadrant, the yoke and pedals would have to connect to the quadrant, then the quadrant to the pc. Again, the quadrant connects to the pc via a serial cable. They did say that it comes with a serial to usb adapter. I'm not sure what this really means other than I could connect it to my pc's usb interface, but I think natively, it's still a serial device.I don

What scares me most is that hdwre manufacturers' are not keeping up with the software advances that have been made in this industry. Support for serial ports is becoming a rarity among the computer hardware manufacturers' and this concerns me. It also concerns me that they the hdwre manufacturer's have not been updating their equipment nor have any improvements to their product line occurred in a long time. Same ole', same ole''........I'm hoping that 'Engravity' takes the lead in producing some really great hardware additions that support the PMDG & Lvl D product line.I'm also very much disappointed in CH products for not coming out with a more realistic yoke/rudder/throttle design. From a marketing and sales point of view, there is a need for improvement in this segment of the flight sim total experience and there is a market that would support it.As I've said many times on this forum, the 'software' is "unsurpassed", whereas, the hardware is under-designed and there is no inkling from any of the manufacturer's for any future improvements to the existing product designs on their websites. This is a truly a disappointing facet of the business that should be motivating some young entrepreneurs' to seize an opportunity here and now and reap some hefty rewards. I'm too old or would have considered it along time ago.Regards, jack

I have the PFC yoke, rudder pedals and jet console with the 737NG throttle. The thrust reverser levers are as realistic as you can get. I consider it the best money I ever spent. I had the digital throttle assy but it has been replaced with the jet console. The yoke I have is one that was distributed through AETI, which is the same but with AETI's logo. All of the equipment has worked flawlessly although I did finally have to put in a new set of springs in the yoke. It has been used so much one of them lost its tension. I replaced them myself at only the cost of the springs. The rudder pedals came with on / off brakes, (you can get them now with proportional brakes) but I was able to modify mine to proportional for under $5 which work perfectly.I had CH equip originally and there is no comparison. As the old saying goes, "you get what you pay for".Tom
