September 24, 200619 yr I have an amd 64x2 3800+. What temperature is too hot? Is 60 degrees ok under a load?
September 24, 200619 yr That's not too hot, those can handle 60's. But I think you should be able to run 50's under load. What kind of case do you have? How many fans?RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
September 24, 200619 yr I have an antec sonata II, the case comes with 1 fan and the mobo has a north bridge fan. Of course I have the psu fans and I'm using the stock cpu fan. I am also overclocking, right now a 9% oc.
September 25, 200619 yr Update: With a 12% oc, I am running in the 50's under a very high fs load with all the sliders maxed out at simflyers jfk with completly smooth consistant performance.
September 25, 200619 yr Thats hot, so like we talked about in your other topic u need a better HS and airflow. i have a 40% OC and i run 50 too. ;)
September 25, 200619 yr Yep, thanks. Im gonna try and go for a zalman fan. That is if I can fit it. My ram is quite close to the cpu, and the psu might be in the way also. Did you have any trouble installing your fan?
September 25, 200619 yr Nope no issues here, actually quite good with the ram being close becuase it gets caught by the HS airflow thus keeping that also nice and cool :)
September 25, 200619 yr Is your stock HSF mounted properly? You don't need a Zalman to run 50 degC with a 12% overclock. YOu should be able to achieve that with the stock fan.If your HSF is mounted properly, you probably need better case cooling. Antec Sonatas are pretty decent cases, but I thought they had more than 1 fan. If not, you need at least 2 case fans on it, one blowing in and one blowing out.RhettAMD 3700+, eVGA 7800GT 256, ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, etc. etc. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB
