October 5, 200619 yr DX10 support, 768MB GDDR3 memory, Shader Model 4.0, 128 unified shaders clocked at 1350 MHz - This is going to kick a$$http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=4441
October 5, 200619 yr Question is, will it be called an nVidia or Intel 8800?http://today.reuters.co.uk/news/articlenew...-DC.XML&src=rssGreg
October 5, 200619 yr wow... that settles it. Im not going to buy an ati 1950xtx this weekend like I planned, time to save up some money til next month!!!
October 6, 200619 yr First gen DX-anything is yet to be something worth holding back for. I'm sure you'll get plenty of mileage from a 1950xtx before DX10 cards are a compelling buy.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
October 6, 200619 yr yeah but Id rather wait on spending 500 dollars on a new video card, if I do pick up the 1950, I might wait until the price drops when the new cards come out. Besides, if the 8800 is as good as it appears to claim, Id rather save that 500 for this new generation
October 6, 200619 yr I'd wait until the independent reviews come in before getting too excited about claimed performance. Performance aside, these new cards draw significant power, which goes against the modern miniaturisation / less power push. No doubt, these first-gen DX10 cards will hold (dis)honorable places in history against the likes of the nVidia 5800 dustbuster series.Gary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
October 6, 200619 yr I also have an X850 series card, Alex, and I'm waiting for the dust to settle on the next gen cards. As Gary said, from the preliminary reports the power requirements could be a problem for alot of folks. I don't have a problem dishing $500 for a front line VC... just want to make sure I won't be buying some kind of oven (or leafblower), too. And even if I pass on the next gen cards something like the X1950 will be far cheaper then.Experience tells me this simply is not a good time to buy a gaming video card. Finally, I've grown weary of hearing about FSX and DX10. There are too many "ifs" for me to get excited about the possibilties at this point in time. Maybe in a few months (or weeks) when we know more definatively.Greg
October 9, 200619 yr If the whole DX10 thing was not tied to Vista I would have waited. Instead I decided to go with X1950XTX to give me a good platform for the next year or so.
