Restoring FS9 and all my add-ons???

Featured Replies

Help please. My system crashed and I had to reinstall Windows XP and all my programs. I have a complete backup (copy) of my FS9 folder which obviously contains all my add-ons (LD-767 PMDG 747,737, Ultimate Terrain, BirdsEyeView, Ultimate Traffic, FSGenesis, etc). In other words, a great many add-ons and customized settings. My question is how best to restore all of this without making a mess of things. Should I simply reinstall FS9 and then copy ALL of the backup files to the FS9 directory while overwriting everthing that was part of the original install? What would you guys suggest? Thanks so much for your help!!!!!!!

Hi chuck, sigh, again someone suffers from Winrot* and had to re-install..Bad thing is that eventhough you backed-up you fs folder... simply copying it back even when the drive letter would be the same, or re-installing FS first and then copying it back, it would still result in some non functioning addons since their associated registery enteries are missing in XP.. imo hate to say it but good luck and start installing from scratchnote: Winrot term used in IT not made up to bash MS.

Oh my gosh! You're talking about hours and hours of reinstall and tweaking. Oh no!!! Just what I didn't want to hear. Oh well, such is life in the computer world. Thanks!

i know Chuck, many of us had to do it this way before you some once others many times, in my case reinstalling my 100GB+ FS was indeed a very big pain in the hiney..
