Serious performance problem with Nvidia 7800 GTX

Featured Replies

Hi there!I just got the latest FSX and wanted to try it out, since I'm really curious about this simulator. Now whenever I try to fly around, with any setting, FSX is totally unplayable!!No matter if I have hight quality, low quality, any screen resolution - it just doesn't matter, it's like almost nothing moves!I upgraded to the latest Nvidia drivers - nothing. But I'm worried about this, because the system it's installed on is pretty good I guess:Pentium D 8202GB DDRGforce 7800 GTX with 256MB DDR3 onboardAsus P5WD2 Premium MainboardIs there any known bug with this combination or am I doing something completly wrong?Hope to fix this with this mass of people on this site.Michael

You're not Robinson Crusoe on this! Read the FSX forum on this site and you'll find most people have frame rate problems, even those with Core 2 Duo systems. The only thing you can do is turn all the quality settings down, particularly slide the autogen to zero. You might be able to get 15-20 fps in remote areas with everything turn down. There are also some tweaks you can make but I'm afraid they have limited impact on the problem and no one has a definitive solution that can return frame rates to playable levels near cities or other detailed scenery. Cheers,Noel.

You CAN get playable frame rates near cities in FSX. At least you should, as I figure your Pentium D 8 series is probably in the same ballpark to my cpu in power, and your gfx card is just about the same.Get matt fox's autogen file. That did it for my setup.I get 12-15 fps at the busiest airport and biggest city I can find, which is equal to 20-25 fps in FS9. The rest of the time, I get 30+ fps, which is remarkable considering that the autogen slider is full right.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2.5 ghz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (94.47), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8, WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian
