October 25, 200619 yr My computer vendor has just replaced my Radeon 9800 card for the second time. The replaced card was only four months old and went bad soon after I had made some tweaks to FSX. These tweaks included changing default.xml to default.bak, adding the TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_....... lines and changing their values and using the ATI Tray Tools to tweak the shaders. Do you think that any of these tweaks could have harmed this old model card? Do you think that the high demands of FSX could have done so?Thanks,Dan

October 26, 200619 yr Author Alex,There were large white rectangular blocks on the startup screens. Then there were small dotted colored lines on all of the screens. The screens were also blurred and the colors were bad.According to the vendor, the card was defective.Dan
October 26, 200619 yr Author Denny,Thanks for the reply. I have checked out the fans. They are all working and dust free. Is there a way to check out the PSU? I ran a diagnostic and the only reference to the PSU was "Power Supply State: Safe".Dan
October 26, 200619 yr Hmmm, that's what I think of mine, but it's too old to return it...anyway, this is what I see after the sim loads normal at first (btw, at those who read it, my frame rate problems have been resolved).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/159791.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/159792.jpgIn addition, the external aircraft textures won't load properly, even not in the aircraft selection preview window...Any help would be greatly appreciated :)GreetingsAlex
October 26, 200619 yr Author Alex,My problem with the card was not exclusively with FSX. I had the bad screens with all my programs. Once I get FSX going again, I'll see if I have a simular problem as your screen shots.Dan
