November 15, 200619 yr Commercial Member Need some help here guys as I am scratching my head on this. Though not FS related directly it is about hardware. I cannot get my new notebook to see my desktop PC on a simple 2 pc wired network. Actually, for example, on my notebook PC I can open the window "View Network Computers" and both are displayed as icons. But if I click on the desktop PC I get an error message to the likes of "Desktop PC is not accessible. You do not have permission. The network path is not found". Don't have permission? I just created the workgroup! Ha!I have set up networks in the past many times using the Windows XP wizard... basically a no brainer. Both PC's running XP Pro SP2, I have file sharing on, I have them on the same Workgroup, I have made several folders and entire hard drives available for sharing but still no access. Also have tried creating different workgroups several times with different names, rebooting, etc, etc. Oh, and I have the connection via a wired Linksys Router. Works great. Is there something staring at me in the face that I am missing?!? All I am trying to do is move a few addon puchases from my "internet PC" to my "FS PC" :)So if any of you fellow simmers have any ideas, I am all ears...thxClutchProject 9 Dragons Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) Type: secpol.msc When the MMC opens with the local security policy editor, open Local Policies and select "Security Options"Find the following:"Network access: Do not allow anonymous enumeration of SAM accounts and shares."Make sure you disable that setting and it should work just fine.
