January 1, 200719 yr I've been using Diskeeper for several and I've never had a problem before. I wanted to defrag FSX so I ran the usual Diskeeper defrag. Once it finished the report still says the drive is heavily fragmented. I've tried running the defrag multiple times and it just keeps saying the same thing. Meanwhile if I analyze the drive using the built-in Windows defrag, it tells me that the drive does not require any defragging. So the problem is definitely with Diskeeper. I've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling and I still have the same issue. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Thank you.
January 1, 200719 yr I'm not sure, but could it be that you still need to do an off-line defrag to tidy up the system files and the paging file? This is assuming you are trying to defrag the drive that holds the o/s. I know I have to do this from time to time with my wife's installation of XP where everything is installed on drive C: I use PerfectDisk and it usually prompts me when a defrag is needed at next boot.Mike

It did'nt remedy the problem and yes I am defragging the drive that has both the OS and FSX. Thanks for the suggestion though.
January 1, 200719 yr Yes I have Diskeeper and for a long time I thought it was really good. Now I found an even better one.http://www.disktrix.com/_vti_bin/shtml.exe...ragdownload.htmIt is free for a week and can put all your flightsim files onto the edge of the disk for quicker reading!Diskeeper dosen't do that.Ultimate Defrag has increased my FPS by 10FPS on average over what was the best Diskeeper could manage. With regard to your problem, you should activate Diskeeper automaticly by asking for the Windows defrag! If it is mnot happening, Diskeeper is not working properly, contact their help department, they are always helpful. For me though, it's Ultimate Defrag from now on. Diskeeper is now history.Edit; Use the 'Consolidate' option, go to 'Tools' then Options, slect your drive and Select files FlightSim, tick on it, click on the icon to transfer it to the left-hand side. Click 'OK', OK again then click 'Start. You will see your FS move to the outside for quicker readabilty = More FPS!!Wonderful eh? Dave Taylor
