January 6, 200719 yr Dear colleagues!I just installed a second graphic card (7900GS) to plug a third 20" TFT monitor. Before I had to monitors spanned to 3200x1200 in VC view with very good performance. I'd like to use the 3 monitor now to span to 4800x1200. I thought of getting a 3head2go, however it wouldn't support more than 1024 and it is not recommended to reduce my native resolution from 1200 to 1024.I heard that it should be possible somehow span three monitors on 2 graphic cards. Any advise or am I wrong in this one?Thank you very much!!Sam, LSZH
January 6, 200719 yr It will work my friend. I would, however, get yourself a decent Nvidia card and purchase the triple head 2 Go and you can up the res to 3840/1024. Much more stable. I have 4 monitors running from my single card with no problems at all. Keith Sandford.
January 6, 200719 yr Thanks a lot, Keith! I thought of getting a TripleH2Go, however, I was recommended not to as my TFT's have a native resolution of 1200 and TH2G would not support that (max 1024)Is there another solution or a software I could use? I have no problem to span 2 monitors, but the third insists to operate as a single one...Best regards, Sam

That is the max res it can achieve per monitor (or less). If you have an ATI card then yes 1024 is the max resolution (because of a driver issue) thats why I stated to get a decent nvidia card.If you insist on 3 monitors with 2 cards then if you go into the nvidia control panel/multi monitor set-up then you can arrange all 3 monitors to act as one (span mode). Not sure about ATI though. Keith Sandford.
January 7, 200719 yr Hi KeithWow! Your cockpit certainly is absolutely awesome!! Now I have your pic in my desk to remind myself where my goal is! :-)I tried to arrange the 3 monitors in the control panel, however it seemed that XP is only able to span "per graphic card" and could not span the 3rd monitor on the second card to the other two. Maybe there is a way to overcome that limitation. The native resolutions of my 20" NEC TFT's are 1600x1200. To remain the native resolution with TripleH2Go I'd like to achieve 4800x3600. Are you sure that spanning three monitors on two Nvidia cards should be possible in XP?Thank you very much!Sam
January 7, 200719 yr Hi Sam, I have lots of experience with multi monitor displays so will try my best. Firstly, could you explain exactly what you want to display through your 3 monitors? That would help me solve this problem.Notice how far apart my monitors are? With my fresnel lenses I have a seamless image which as you can imagine is very, very large. The monitors have to be separated as the virtual image is magnified by the lenses.Goto this link and hit (MY RIG) in albums, for more photo's.www.putfile.com/slipstream/images Keith Sandford.
January 7, 200719 yr Right!Keith, I have 2 monitors on 1 graphic card, the 3rd monitor on the second card. I want have all 3 monitors spanned to one with the whole possible width in order to have VC cockpits displayed over the three monitors... don't know how to arrange this in Win XP as Nview doesn't seem to support that?Thank you!Sam
January 7, 200719 yr OK then, in that case make sure you have multi monitors enabled in the nvidia control panel, which I assume you already have. Have you right clicked on desktop/properties/settings and highlighted the third monitor by left clicking on the image. Then you must check the box EXTEND MY WINDOWS DESKTOP ONTO THIS MONITOR.Then arrange the monitors 1 left/2 middle/3 right. Apply changes and then close.Start FSX and change to windows mode when you are in VC. Right click anywhere and choose UNDOCK. You can now spread the view across all 3 screens. Once you have done that return to full screen and re-size if required.Let me know how you get on. Keith Sandford.
January 8, 200719 yr Thank you, Keith! As soon as I undock and extend the VC's background remains black on the 3rd screen. I read in another forum that spanning monitors only works per graphic card. I can't span monitors on different graphic cards... that's odd as networked pc's are able to span VC's on multiple monitors....Best regards, Sam
