Laptop Video Card and Vista

Featured Replies

I was on my way to get a lap top today now that Vista is available...but literally on the way there I thought to myself...none of those video cards run dx10 even though they run Vista. As I plan on flying FSX on DX10 when it comes out..my question is what do the current Vista non dx10 cabible laptop video cards do...Is vista currently running on dx9.(Even though is says dx10)..and if so what happens to these cards when the dx10 patch comes out....Most importantly how does this effect FSX when the switch is made....Just thought this was an issue we should cover...Clearly it seems the best solution is to wait...but there are going to be alot of people who dont realize this and are going to get stuck..so I thought I would bring the issue to the forfrontthanks for any help...jareth (Wisconsin)

Laptops in general do not provide a nice gaming experience when compared to desktops. There are A FEW laptops (like from Alienware etc) that work well but priceyAnyway, I don't think there any even any DX10 video cards in laptops yetThey just came out with the first two for the desktop so it might be a while. I'd consider a desktop unless you absolutely need the mobility of the notebook
