I bought a new computer not to long ago and upgraded to FSX, I am very disapointed with the performance and was wondering if I could get some help in PLAIN ENGLISH PLEASE I am not very good with computers so I will basically need step by step directions. Here is what I have:Intel Core 2 Duo E660 CPUGigabyte GA-965-S# Main Board1 GB (512 X 12) Geil 4300 DDR2 Memory200 GB SataII Seagate HDMSI 7600GS TD256EH Video CardWindows XP ProHere are my problems:Split second freezeing of image, usally during TO and Landing, going thru weather or changing views during flight. This will happen many times. It is not very easy to shoot an approach down to minumums with your computer freezing up on you! While on the ground if I change to the fly-by view the plane will not be visable for 10 seconds while it loads ( is this normal?)One other question, are ther any adons availible for purcahse? I have a bunch for FS 2004 but have not been able to find any yet for FSX. I like to by the CD versions (once again not very good with computers)Thanks for any helpRich

Plain english!! Yikes!I can tell you, that a lot of your problems are due to your computer not having enough memory. You need 2 gigabytes, which is twice as much as you have right now.Your Core2Duo cpu is fine.Your video card is a very slightly weak spot; the 7600GS's are a little bit on the light side for high end app like FS, but not too bad. A 7600GS should do a decent job for you. While you have limitations because of your computer, there are some things that can be done.First I would defrag that hard drive every once in a while. That will help more than you think. The split-second freezing of the image? More memory, or badly matched memory sticks. 1gb is not the best, 2gb is better, but you can get by with the 1gb. What I would do, is set sliders in FSX all the way left, and then see if you get pauses on final approach. Yes, it will look bad, but we are testing here.Gradually move a slider to the right, and fly some more. It takes time, but after a week or two you will see exactly WHAT your computer can handle....and what it can't.I suggest you also lock your framerate (start at...hmmm...20) or maybe even 15 if you are really trying to troubleshoot pauses. Finally, you need to (and this is very important in my opin), apply a few of the tweaks (see the Tips and Tricks forum), such as Matt Fox's reduced Autogen file, which helped me a lot.RhettAMD 3700+ (@2310 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2 GB Corsair XMS 2.5-3-3-8 (1T), WD 250 gig 7200 rpm SATA2, CoolerMaster Praetorian case

Thank you for the advice I will try the items that you suggested. I am a litle peeved at the guy who built my computer for me though, he told that this system would run flight sim NO PROBLEM! I guess you can not trust anybody. Thanks once againRich
