Best Moderately Priced PCI Express Video Card

Featured Replies

I am getting a new computer with just the built in video. I am looking for a good PCI-Express Video Card with 512MB Ram around the $200 range. Thanks!Barry

I am in the process myself of getting a new card. I have an ATI 300

In the $200 segment, there's currently no better card than the ATI X1900Pro, as far as I am concerned. However for only $50 more you can get the X1950XT, which is currently one of the best DX9 cards that is out there.Good luck,Pat

A 7600gs with 256mb or 512mb of memory will give you plenty performances with FSX for about $120For reference see the videocard reviews at hardocp.com, the seem to be the only ones testing the cards with FSX

Thanks for the responses everyone. I think I will go with the 7600 gs with 512 MB for now. NewEgg has some good deals. And then when the DX-10 cards come down in price, I will oonsider Vista and DX-10.Thanks again!Barry

One more question, there is PCIe and PCIe x16. I would assume it it better to get the PCIe x16?Can someone tell me what the difference in terms of performance? Thanks!Barry

Check to see if your motherboard supports X16. If it doesn't there's no point in spending the extra money. Of course, if there isn't a price difference, or a very small one, I'd get the X16 in case you end up changing your motherboard at some point.

My motherboard supports the x16, but it will only take a low profile card. I purchased the Leadtek 7600GS w/ 256 MB Video Memory. From what I understand, the low profile is more the future direction. Thanks again for your help!
