March 21, 200719 yr Are you running Ultimate Defrag as an administrator? I can't remember the exact error message, but if you don't right-click on the program and select "run as administrator" it won't work. You can also set this up in the Properties (right-click the program) of the the exe.
March 23, 200719 yr How did u get it to work? Thanks in advance for any info. I am trying to conquer Vista but as soon as u think u have a handle another problem appears.Thank againSteve
March 24, 200719 yr Hey Steve,I took the advice of D. Lahrman and just simply right clicked on the UDefrag desktop icon and selected "run as administrator" and....bingo I'm in.Good luck pal
March 26, 200719 yr A quick ? How did you install UDefrag? Maybe i am missing something there I have latest version 1.46 according to website.. running Vista Ultimate ( i see you are using ) everytime i start the program i get vista telling me it is checking the web for a solution as to why defrag wont run... also which compatibility are you using? Thanks again.... Steve
March 27, 200719 yr Hey Steve,Sounds like you're still in a bit of a pickle.Remember I'm only evaluating a 30 day trial version of Ultimate defrag ok. I'm running Vista Home Premium 32.Once you've downloaded the file and it's only like 2.5 megs, you simply right click on the UDefrag desktop icon and go to Properties which will take to to Udefrag properties. Left click on compatability, and you'll see the Privilege Level towards the bottom. Check the box to "Run program as an administrator" and you're done. That's pretty much all there is to it pal.Good LuckThe Capn
March 27, 200719 yr Thanks for the extended help. I went ahead a bought since my thirty days was up and it seems to help and be an advantage. I will goto Disktricks site I tried everyway i can figure out to running it as an admistrator short of the version you have just posted. When I right click the checkbox is not an option even though im not running defender or firewalls heck... I give administrator rights to any one who logs in .... it just reminds me of that funny Mac commercial where the pc guy has to ask for permission from the bodyguard... funny Thanks AgainSteve
