March 28, 200719 yr Moderator Just purchased a Viewsonic 22" LCD. My video card is a GeForce 7600GS 512. Monitor is fine in analog mode but I'm having issues trying to use DVI output. If I connect DVI-DVI the system comes up at 1280x1024. I then set the resolution to native (1680x1050x60hz) and click apply - screen blanks - I get a message "digital - no signal" - a pause and then system comes back at 1280x1024. I exchanged for another monitor and had same issue. I've tried several different drivers including the latest certified from the Nvidia site. Tried clean boot - same issue. If I connect a DVI adaptor to a SUB D cable and connect to the card I get analog mode.Using the 96.89 drivers I have been able to get it to work but it is not stable - sometimes when I boot - the system will boot fine but the screen stays black. When I tried FSX it would be fine unless I tried switching to windowed mode and back - then it would hang.I have the latest monitor driver from Viewsonic.System is p4 - 3.4 - 2Gram - 7600GS/512 xppro - no o'clockingall temps are well within specs.Anyone have any ideas?ThanxVicVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/ RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
March 28, 200719 yr IIRC there has been a rash of problems like this. Several possible workrounds:1: Loading it up as `analogue`, then using the OSD to switch to DVI, then quickly powering off the computer and monitor, switching to the DVI cable, then starting the monitor, then the computer, making sure the analogue cable has been completely removed, not just unplugged from the monitor.2: Set BOTH sets of cables, the monitor defaults to analogue. Set DVI, then reboot the computer, PULLING THE ANALOGUE cable before post is complete.3: Check the Nvidia driver is set to MONITOR SCALING, and not any of the other options.I'm sure one of these will work! March 29, 200719 yr Author Moderator Well, sort of a success. :) Used your suggestion #2 and was able to get a digital display at the native resolution. I say sort of a success because I have to go through a specific sequence to start up the system and get a display. Monitor must be OFF when I start system, after a few seconds I turn it on. Most of the time it will boot ok but there have been several times where the boot completed but the screen was black with a standby light. If I hit a few keys, it suddenly lights up fine - like it was in sleep mode. I just checked and the power saver mode was set to turn monitor off after 20 minutes - I just set it to never. If I start the monitor first (which is Viewsonic's recommendation) the screen stays blank. ONly way to get oit to display is to hit ctrl-alt-delete -enter to lock the system. Then try to hit keys etc - screen lights up with a message that system is locked and I can go on from here. What's the cause of this overall issue? Driver? Card? System? all of the above?I dread what will happen if I try a different driver - don't want to go through the 2 cable process each time.Thanx for the help,Vic Visit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/ RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
March 29, 200719 yr Author Moderator Spoke too soon - worked for a while but when I tried today all I get is a black screen and I can't get out of it. :(I plan on buying an 8800 when the prices come down but I don 't want to blow that kind of $$ if there's a chance the card won't work.Since I tried two new monitors, I feel certain that it's not hte problem. My system has been stable for quite a while so I'd eliminate that. I'm left with either the video card and/or the driver. This card is a 7600GS - I have an old 6800 that I could swap and see if it works. but that doesn't really tell me what the problem is.Any ideas?ThanxVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/ RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
