FSX setup problem

Featured Replies

Hello I recently upgraded my pc buying new processor, motherboard and video card (pci express) so that i can enjoy the new fsx and when i finally installed it, i get something like 5-7 frames per second is there anyone that can advice me on my game settings or tweaks in order to get some satisfactory frames per second without sacrificing too much on the graphics? In order to help I attached my dxdiag specs. Thanks Ang171.Ps. i run fs04 on ultrahigh and i get something like 50-60 fps. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/169874.txt

you cant compare FS9 to FS10 in that way. FS9 on the tecnology of its day ran like a dog. Over time with mods and fixes it got better and of course new technology helped. FSX is designed for the future tecnology, has a lot more eyecandy and requires better hardware just like FS9 did in its day. The way to get the best is to get things like , reduced cloud texture size, reduced tree texture size these are all on Avsim have a browse. watar 2 low looks realy good and dosnt make a big fps hit over water 1 high. clouds at 60% look great with the reduced textures size and 3d, 2d look, well cant say those words. I have being playing with Aa and find that trilinear filtering gives best quality with little FPS hit, but cant see much diff between FS10 aa and hardware aa, as far as fps goes. Keep yot airport vehicles to min as well as road traffic , i run Ai at 70%, most other settings high. I have AMD x2 4600 dual core, m2n mobo, 2gig corasir value ram 667mhz, 7900gs video, and get 20 fps overlondon, thats at 2000ft yes it may dip to 7 but you shouldnt get the frame show that fs9 gave you, its so much better. Oh and if you fly around europe or uk get the freeware textures and terrain mesh here, its also on avsim.http://www.fsproject.com/dcd/New/See how you go

Thanks for the quick response i'll give it a try and let you know how it goes. Ang171
