May 15, 200719 yr Hello all, Having a problem at the moment trying to put together a new system, and I'm lokking for a quick point in the right direction. I know nothing about motherboards, and searches that I have conducted on websites trying to purchase a suitable one have been like reading Greek. (I'm not Greek). I am getting a core2duo e6600 and I have a separate sound card and I have a Gainward Bliss 7900gs, its agp, so I'm basically looking for an AGP motherboard, socket 775 that can handle high freq RAM. Any suggestions? Thanks in advanceGeorge
May 15, 200719 yr If you cant make the total transition over to a PCI-E based motherboard and associated parts just now, then the Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA (Socket 775) PCI-Express/AGP DDR2 Motherboard is a good stepping stone, it has AGP and PCI-E as well DDR2 and DDR ram slots, this makes a good stepping stone for those with older AGP and DDR1 parts, its quite cheap too.Its about the best choice you have in your situation, unless of course you bite the bullet and build a completely new system. Not sure where you are from? but the board is available globally, here is a link from a UK store to give you an idea of what it is.http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct....catid=5&subcat=
May 16, 200719 yr Author Thats absolutely ideal, thanks a million, I didn't know dual mobo's existedMany thanksGeorge
May 16, 200719 yr Glad to have helped :) do a google for reviews, they are actually pretty good boards, just dont expect the same kind of overclock on a C2D as you would on a high end Asus or similar, also dont think they can take a GE Force 8800GTX, but a 7900 or similar PCI-E card would be fine, as would the fastest AGP card the X1950.As a stepping stone they are good boards, I had the model below this before I bought all the parts needed to complete my latest build.
