May 21, 200719 yr Hi Folks, Footage from the Call Of Juarez DX10 Benchmark, rendered with DX10 can be downloaded here (158MB):http://www.guru3d.com/article/Videocards/431/17/Framerates were apparently really poor, with only low res 1280 x 1024 playable. But it is the first time I have seen actual footage from a DX10 game. Comparisons with DX9 are also available.Cheers,Noel. 11th Gen i9-11900K @ 3.5GHz | nVidia GeForce RTX 3080 | Corsair 64 GB RAM | Samsung 970 EVO Plus 2TB | Asus 27" RoG G-Sync Track IR5 | Thrustmaster Warthog | CH Products Pedals
May 21, 200719 yr The movie is absolutely awesome. I had it in full screen mode and had excellent frame rates. I looked at all 4 videos, but I don't see much other than the HDR lighting that would help much with FSX! The sky between the DX9 and DX10 doesn't rally look that different. The current 2x water, especially the higher levels, in FSX look similar to those in these videos. The HDR lighting does look good and even better than Light Bloom. As you say though, this video doesn't show great performance, so unless, we can get these features at a performance level similar that we have now with SP1 and no light bloom or higher, I'm not sure if DX10 will help much!! I will say the blades of grass and detail of the bark on the tree, and wood planking etc., was pretty darn good. Also the fire in the fireplace looked better than any fire I've seen. But I don't play many games so I'll shut up.
May 23, 200719 yr I agree those features are nice eye candy, for the normal video game like a First Person Shooter game. You don't need to see the bark of the trees though in that detail in a flight sim. The main areas that DX10 can help FS and only if it can do it without a severe performance penalty, is lighting, which it looks like HDR lighting will do! Water, so far though I haven't seen any DX10 demo's or videos, that really outshine FSX water, especially at the higher 2x level. It may be worth it though if it can do it at a higher performance level. Sky textures, same thing, I haven't seen anything compelling here either. With ASX and FSXE on the horizon, FSX will look even better!! The one thing that did look better with the mountain textures, but that just looked like different textures was used between the DX9 version and the DX10. Not sure the DX9 version couldn't display these textures if they were used in it.Here's a shot with Cloud9 Orlando, with My normal settings, except I boosted water to max! Note the reflections and grass, and I'm still getting 20+FPS. Now if FSX DX10 can do at least this, with a decent boost in performance, it will be worth it. Phil though a while back said it's possible the extra features in DX10, may actually hurt performance. He did say this prior to even the G8800 cards being released, so time will tell.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/172233.jpg Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
