June 4, 200718 yr I have ASUS Mobo with P4 2.8GHZ Intel chip on my Sony Desktop. 1.5GB RAM. Computer is about 3 years old. I'm having graphics degredation when running FSX SP1. I'm wondering what is minimum graphics card for this program. Currently I have Radeon 9800 Pro with 128MB memory on board. Thanks,Bruce

June 4, 200718 yr Hi Bruce, 128MB GPU RAM is far too little to run FSX in a nice manner. The easiest way to save GPU memory, is to move the Global texture quality further left. Beware, it gets pretty ugly. ;-) Perhaps also have a look at your bios' AGP-aperture? A relatively priceworthy X1650 w/ heaps of GDDR3 memory should help a bit. Good luck and kind regards Jaap
June 7, 200718 yr You have an AGP Vcard? If so, it's sad to say any reasonable upgrade path might be over. Consider: There are 7800GS AGP cards still available, but it can hurt to spend $200 on a component to allow a 2.8 P4 system to run at it's maximum capability. Replacing a severely limiting Vcard with a bigger dog will just reveal a severely limiting CPU. Wait till July 22. INTC will be dropping prices, again. If you are on a budget, Nvidia will have sub $50 8 series Vcards soon too. But still, ya gotta buy a new Mobo and ram too. You're right up against that hard choice.
