June 10, 200718 yr Hi, I was thinking of buying a laptop on sale at newegg that comes with Vista Home preinstalled. I like to get rid of it completely, and install her XP Pro CD on it instead. Is this possible to do pretty easily?Noel Noel System: 9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync. June 10, 200718 yr Noel,If, and I repeat *IF*, Vista won't let you install XP Pro AND you have a floppy drive, you can use this [a href=http://support.euro.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?journalid=F7DF81F5171E11DCA471438DA0E20ADD&docid=07302457082C47EDA1A8F9619885F51F]debug script[/a] to wipe the drive and then install XP.I can't caution you enough on how dangerous this may be if you type incorrectly or the drive is SATA. I've used it on both new Dell and non-Dell machines to get rid of pre-installed bloatware and then do a clean XP OS install with no problems, but only with IDE drives. Ymmv. There's also the possibilty that you can't reach the Dell link above...that could be a sign ;-)jb[a href=http://exmixer.com/]Windows utility links/FS 2004[/a]
