June 30, 200718 yr I just got a new Vista E6700 computer and installed FSX with Sp1 and I'm now getting choppy distorted sounds when running FSX...the sound is fine in all other applications and music. Thinking it might be caused by the integrated sound I purchased a SB sound card and downloaded the latest drivers but still had the same crappy sound. I then decided it must be the Direct X drivers so I went to the MS site to download the June DirectX end-user runtime installer but when I run the setup I keep getting the message "Setup could not download the file...Please retry later" I've been getting this message for two days even though the internet is connected and the firewall disabled. I was able to download the 53mb DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2007)but I don't know if I should try installing it in Vista even though MS lists Vista 32 under it's system requirement. Anybody have any suggestions? My brain is about to explode with all these different DX packages! June 30, 200718 yr Author >Have you disabled the on-board sound in the BIOS?>>Andrew>>No I hadn't so I went ahead and turned it off but FSX sound still gets choppy after about 10 minutes of flying. Also the C172 and FSD C337 are the worst but with the FSD Saratoga it's hardly noticeable. I'm using a couple of 10 year old 10w Yamaha speakers but they sound just fine playing music cd's or with other games. I also configured the speakers with the Creative utility. Other then this audio issue FSX runs great on this system with little or no blurries or pauses but the sound is driving me nuts!Has anyone sucessfully updated their DX drivers in Vista?? July 4, 200718 yr Author After trying just about everything including replacing my old speakers and updating the DX drivers I deleted FSX.CFG and let a new one be built and that cleared up all my sound problems and improved my FPS. :-jumpy :-hah :-jumpy System: Rysen 7-9700X, MSI Pro X870-P WiFi AM5 Motherboard, Team T-Force Delta 64 GB DDR5 6000 Mhz, Corsair RM1000x80 PLUS Gold, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Super Windforce 12GB OC, NVIDIA Drivers 610.47, 2TB WD Blue SN580 NVMe m.2 SSD for Windows 11 Home, 2TB WD Black SN850X NVMe m2 SSD for MSFS & Steam, LG 27GX700A-B 280 Hz OLED 27" 2560x1440 280Hz Monitor, Thrustmaster Airbus flight stick, Logitech M510 wireless Mouse.
