July 23, 200718 yr Over on Anandtech, they have a write up about how using video cards with large memory results in problems on Vista/32. A 2 GB address space issue. It seems the more memory on your video card the more problems you will have with Vista. Is anyone happy with Vista and a 640MB+ video card running FSX, is XP a better OS for FSX? July 23, 200718 yr I haven't made the jump to Vista yet, but when I do it will be a 64 bit version for this, and other, memory limitation issues. It's just like the expanded/extended memory debacle of the early 90s all over again :-lolGary 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
July 23, 200718 yr >It's just like the expanded/extended memory debacle of the early 90s all over againSigh.. Indeed it definatly is.>Is anyone happy with Vista and a 640MB+ video card running FSXFor me, whilst there are some issues agreed, I have another system running a DFI + 1x 640mb GTS + Vista ultimate running FSX without issues.>is XP a better OS for FSX?Some say Yes, others say no.. I guess XP has been around for along time and has proven to be pretty solid. IMO its up to the user whether he/she likes Vista or not, claims it to be a memory-hog or not, debacle DX9 or DX10 etc.... For me I like both, and both do a good job for what they are suppose to do. Just my 2yen on this.
