July 28, 200718 yr I have been looking at the PCs over at http://www.beastcomputers.co.uk/Anyone using these or can comment on build quality/how well setup and tuned? From comments at Avsim and elswhere, mass produced computers like Dell are not recommended. I don't have the skills to build a PC, making sure clock speeds/memory/motherboards are compatible etc, so would much prefer to buy one off the shelf.Any other companies recommended for gaming PCs?Thanks,Ray Keattch.
July 28, 200718 yr Well.. You are in the UK..right? In the US there are custom builders who use generic components like you would yourself. This is ideal for folks who don't want to built it themselves.http://www.pugetsystems.com/configgaming.php?sys_id=8There are a couple of more like this. You just pick from the Menu. They would do it and many of them Over Clock it for you as well.If UK is your place, you may want to research a bit and try to find something like that there.MannyOthershttp://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/cfgc2d.asp?v=dhttp://www.avadirect.com/product_details_c...or.asp?PRID=830 Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
July 30, 200718 yr I haven't seen any reviews of this company's products in UK magazines, that doesn't mean mean to say their products are not great but I think if one is buying a built computer it should either be from a smallish local company one can get to know personally or a very well known brand. I would question the issue of not haveing the skills to put topgether a computer because you could not work out the specification of the various parts which would be compatible.EG here is a basic specification Intel Conroe Core 2 Duo 6400http://uk.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=1...179&modelmenu=12 sticks of 1 Gigabyte DDR2 memory, giveing you a total of 2 Gigabytes.700 to 750 Watt Power Supply e.g.http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=266If you are buying the computer principlally for FSX or FSX and FS9, SLI is not supported and is thus a waste of time buying two graphics cards to run in SLI but haveing an SLI supporting motherboard makes sense as it give a flexability to run SLI in the future, should you wish to use the computer at some stage in a SLI mode. Your choice at the higher end of the graphics cards is between todays high end cards in Direct X9 http://www.nvnews.net/reviews/geforce_7900_gtx/index.shtmlhttp://www.trustedreviews.com/graphics/new...-Card-Again-/p1And the Nvidia Directx 10 cards e.g.http://www.gainward.com/en/product/product_list_e001.htmlNB my suggestions are just that ie "suggestions", to give you something to work with so you can formulate your own specification. Best and Warm RegardsAdrian Wainer
