4:3 or 16:9 LCD Monitor for FS9

Featured Replies

I'm in the market for a new LCD monitor but I'm not sure which format to get, either widescreen or 4:3. My current setup is not top of the line but it runs FS9 decent. It is an Ahtlon XP 2500+ OC to 3200 speed with a GeForce 6600GT video card. The lcd screens that I have looked at are a 20" 4:3 monitor and a 22" widescreen monitor. What do you guys think? My current monitor is a Sony 19" CRT.ThanksEd

If you fly in the 2D panel cockpit..you will probably find the widescreen annoying as it will stretch the 2D panel. Any circular gauges will become oval. If you fly mostly in VC then the Widescreen would be fine. However you can get round the ovalization by dragging the 2D-panel back to 4:3 aspect ratio and use the space for Radio Stack GPS etc. For immersion factor the bigger the screen the better!JimSee the discussion Herehttp://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=search

Thanks for the reply. I did a search before posting and I saw that thread but my concern is that the higher the native resolution of the panel the harder my cpu and graphic card are going to work and less FPS. Oh well I think is time for another upgrade lol.ThanksEd

A single 22"W will be fine with that combinationJim
