November 7, 200718 yr Hi,FSX+SP1TrackIR Pro ver. 4.1 (build 29)FSUIPC Version 4.1.6I'm trying to assign button 2 on my CH Products USB Yoke to center TrackIR while in the VC. This worked fine using FSUIPC in FS9 (by simply assigning F12 to button 2 and deleting the assignment of F12 in the sim to avoid conflicts), but I can't seem to get it to stick in FSX when I exit the hotkey page in TrackIR.Furthermore, I note that FSUIPC doesn't seem to see F12 on my keyboard and I have to use F11 instead. Can someone help please? Thanks.Mike
November 8, 200718 yr So, if you change the hotkey, to the yoke directly within the TackIR software (Flight profile, base profile for FSX) it doesn't stay as button 2?
November 9, 200718 yr Author Hi Vince,Thanks for helping. I'm an idiot :(I was going about it in the wrong way. I should have simply stuck to assigning Button 2 to 'Center' in TrackIR and ignored FSUIPC.However, there is still a wee problem (again most probably due to my lack of understanding). When in the VC I press button 2 to center and the view switches to 'External View: locked spot' (!?). I've checked the button assignments within the sim (FSX) and button 2 is currently not assigned to anything. Centering works fine while in external view.Mike
November 9, 200718 yr Well, it has to be mapped to something else aswell, as the trackir itself has no control over internal, external, spot, etc. views......Could the controller software still be assigning a function to that button?Try disabling the trap function.
November 10, 200718 yr Author Hi Vince,This is weird! Before I continue, I made a mistake with the version number. It should be 4.1 Build 30 (and not 29).I've checked again and nothing else is assigned to button 2. I don't think the controller is at fault as TrackIR still works perfectly in FS2004 using the same controller. Again, I have confirmed this to be the case. Now for is the weird bit:I've discovered that I can get TrackIR to center correctly with button 2 while in VC (without changing to External View: Spot) when FSX is in reduced windowed mode AND the window is currently inactive. As soon as I click on the FSX window to make it active the TrackIR behaviour reverts back to changing from VC to external spot as soon as button 2 is pressed! This means, of course, that I can't get it to work in full screen as the window must be active before the ALT+RETURN combo works.I would try to disable the 'trap' function but for the fact that it is greyed out:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/180285.jpgI'm stumped!MikeEdit: I should have added that button 2 centers the heads and gauges in the TrackIR Pro software.
November 12, 200718 yr Hmmm, not sure why it is working in windowed mode, as apposed to full screen. As for the trap option, my mistake, as it appears that the trap option is only available on keyboard keys.
November 13, 200718 yr Precision mode which temporarily makes the view steadier by increasing the amount of smoothing that is used, when Precision mode is disabled again the smoothing returns to the normal amount for the profile. This is commonly used in combat flight simulators when tracking an enemy in your sights to keep the view as stable as possible.
March 14, 200818 yr Author Hi,I hate to leave things unfinished so I'm posting to advise that I have found the solution.Don't know why I put up with this issue for as long as I have, but I decided to revisit the problem recently and discovered that it really is very simple.FSUIPC, for some reason, sees button 2 as button 1 on my CH Products USB Yoke. So, all I had to do was uncheck the box "Select for key press" and bingo, all's now well and I can use button 2 again for centering TrackIR in both window and fullscreen.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/186417.jpg It works, but don't ask me for an explanation! When I press button 1 on the yoke, FSUIPC sees it as Joy#1, Btn#0I suppose I might have problems if I started assigning yoke button tasks via FSUIPC.Mike :)
March 14, 200818 yr It might see the yoke as Joystick#2Otherwise it looks like a numbering sequence conflict - most other applications have the beginning button setup as 1, 2, 3, etc. on down the line. It looks like FSUIPC starts it at 0, 1, 2, 3, etc. Thanks for the update
