November 9, 200718 yr Anybody have problems retaining a changed and saved Bios?I change the bios for overclocking......it changes ok. Boot up, it shows the changes, after hanging up, then the changes disappear completely and I end up with the BIOS being the way it was originally.Appreciate any help. Thanks.Abe
November 10, 200718 yr I think you need to flash it. IIRC, Abit had an update for this problem. Check your version and get the update from Abit if you need it, but be sure you know what you're doing and follow the instructions exactly or you could ruin it. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
November 10, 200718 yr Author Thanks Chris. I do not like to venture into unchartered waters. Unless I get full help, I just would leave things alone.Abe
November 10, 200718 yr It's not that hard, but some MBs are easier than others. I think I had one that did it from Windows, but I'm not sure. Either way, all you do is make a floppy disk with the files on it and flash utility. Anyhow, you might need to change your RAM's voltage. I'm not sure if you did that, but I have Patriot RAM and had to change the BIOS voltage for my RAM to 2.20, then she was stable and saved the settings. Look at your RAM's package or online and see what it's supposed to be set at. - Chris Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX | Intel Core i9 13900KF | Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 24 GB | 64GB DDR5 SDRAM | Corsair H100i Elite 240mm Liquid Cooling | 1TB & 2TB Samsung Gen 4 SSD | 1000 Watt Gold PSU | Windows 11 Pro | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Thrustmaster TCA Captain X Airbus | Asus ROG 38" 4k IPS Monitor (PG38UQ) Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard | Intel i7 4790k CPU | MSI GTX 970 4 GB video card | Corsair DDR3 2133 32GB SDRAM | Corsair H50 water cooler | Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD (2) | EVGA 1000 watt PSU - Retired
November 11, 200718 yr >Thanks Chris. I do not like to venture into unchartered>waters. Unless I get full help, I just would leave things>alone.>>AbeI think you better leave things alone. As long as it's working, and you are not so acquainted with overclocking, you either read lots of tutorials on how to overclock and update bios and basically make some or lots of risks, or you just leave it be.
November 11, 200718 yr Author Thanks guys for your help and suggestions.I'll just leave it be. Not worth screwing up a basic good thing. If ever I get hold of a safe detailed step by step procedure, I might give it another shot.Abe
