January 6, 200818 yr For some reason, on long flights, I am losing the ability to use my ailerons. My yaw and pitch will work fine but unable to roll after I have flown a long distance. I took some advice from a posting by assigning a function or two to the joystick itself in hopes of preventing it from "timing out". That did not prevent it. It seems to do just that though, "time out" after a while and not let me have full function of the stick.Who do I turn to to ask what is the fix? Is it a software problem with either Microsoft or Logitech? I am using Logitech Force 3D pro along with FS9. It involved the loss of communications with "simconnect" by FSUIPC. FSX "revalidates" the installation each time it starts and again 30 minutes later ( when a unregistered version would quit ) and again at the T+ 1hour, T+2 hour marks and so on. Each of these "revalidation" cycles would cause thousands of disk accesses to the "Crypto" folder in Windows and would cause major stutters of several seconds on my old system. During these episodes, FSUIPC would not be able to communicate with FSX and the whole Simconnect connection froze, resulting in the loss of flight controls. Pete Dawson made changes to FSUIPC to circumvent this issue and I now have a faster system so I've not seen the problem. I reported the "revalidation" issue to MSACES but they indicated that this process was out of their realm and not likely to be "fixed" in SP1 or 2. I've not checked the performance in this area since I built my new machine so I don't know if it could still be an issue. That said, anything that blocks Simconnect could cause your systoms. A misbehaving firewall or perhaps some antivirus software or something that accesses your disk drive for extended periods of time. Paul
